I didn’t stop loving barbering.

I stopped treating being busy as the only measure of whether I was progressing.

So I stopped:

👉🏼 Waiting for the clients I wanted to somehow find me

👉🏼 Posting every haircut with absolutely no fu***ng reason behind it

👉🏼 Thinking technical ability alone would create better opportunities

👉🏼 Measuring progress purely by how full my diary was

👉🏼 Hiding behind the work instead of building my own name

👉🏼 Assuming the only way to earn more was another appointment

👉🏼 Waiting until I felt “ready” before putting myself in rooms I wanted to be in

That shift eventually helped take me from cutting hair in a garage to Premier League footballers, my own studio and brand opportunities.

Not because I stopped being a barber.

Because I started thinking about what I could build around being one.

And obviously the craft fu***ng matters.

But eventually I realised being good at cutting hair only solves one part of the problem.

It doesn’t automatically teach you:

👉🏼 How to become known for what you do

👉🏼 How to turn content into actual opportunities

👉🏼 How to position yourself differently from another good barber

👉🏼 How to increase your income without endlessly increasing your workload

👉🏼 How to build something that gives you options later

That’s a completely different skillset.

And I wish I’d understood that earlier.

Because once your technical ability reaches a certain level, another 2% improvement in your fade probably isn’t the thing that’s going to completely change your career.

Sometimes the bigger opportunity is learning what the f**k to build around it.
