🍂 Did you know that stress and immunity influence each other?🍂

The relationship between our mind and immune system works in both directions. Immune activity can influence the brain and our behaviour, while psychological stress can also affect how our immune system responds.

Our immune system needs to respond appropriately to potential threats — but it also needs to know when to switch off.

A response that is too weak may leave us more vulnerable to infection, while an excessive or poorly regulated response can contribute to ongoing inflammation and, in some circumstances, tissue damage.

So, rather than simply trying to “boost” immunity, it can be more helpful to think about supporting a well-regulated immune response — one that can respond when needed while also keeping inflammation in check.

🍂 Want to learn more about immunity and discover how simple mindful practices may help support your body’s natural regulation?🍂

Why would we want to “balance” our immune system?

Surely, as we navigate the environmental changes that come with the transition into Autumn, boosting our immune system would be more desirable?

Well… it depends.

“Immune boosting” isn’t always desirable, our immune system needs to respond appropriately to potential threats — but it also needs to know when to switch off.
An immune response that is too weak may leave us more vulnerable to infection. But an immune response that is excessive or poorly regulated can drive inflammation and, in some circumstances, contribute to tissue damage.

So rather than simply trying to “boost” immunity, it may be more helpful to think about supporting a well-regulated, balanced immune response — one that is capable of responding when needed, while also keeping inflammation under control.

So perhaps the better question isn’t “How can I boost my immune system?”
It’s:
“How can I support my immune system to respond appropriately?”

Transcend the commercial yoga hype!

Yoga asana are not “exercise” - Yoga asana can certainly develop strength, stamina and flexibility in the body, but they are incomplete without the integration of mind and breath.

Mindfulness doesn’t just happen - Mindfulness is intentional awareness of the present moment — moment by moment, movement by movement. It means becoming aware of sounds, emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as they arise, without automatically reacting to them.

Meditation is not about stopping thoughts - Meditation is learning to sit with our thoughts, emotions, and feelings, observing them without judgement, attachment or interaction.

Yoga Nidra is not “sleeping”- Yoga Nidra is a state of deep relaxation while maintaining inner awareness. The body rests deeply while the mind remains gently aware and receptive.

These are just a few of the many yoga practices that, when practised regularly and with intention, have the potential to transform our lives.

They are the foundations upon which we can build a productive, healthy and fulfilling life.

As summer draws to a close and a new academic year unfolds, the next few weeks can bring a real mix of emotions — change, excitement, anxiety, pride, anticipation, and even the bittersweet sadness of letting go.

For many of us, it’s a time of transition as our children and grandchildren take their next steps in life — starting a new school, moving on to college or university, beginning a new chapter, or simply growing into the next version of themselves.

And of course, it’s not just our children who experience change. Whether you’re moving house, starting a new job, entering a new environment, or facing any kind of new beginning, remember to be kind to yourself.

Sending love and a little extra encouragement to all of you navigating change over the next few weeks. 💕

Here’s to new beginnings, new adventures, and trusting that even when change feels difficult, beautiful things can grow from it. ✨

Stop comparing yourself to others—your hips are uniquely yours. 💛

Enjoy what your body can do. It's not how deep you go into a pose, it's wonderful if you use a prop to help support your body.

You showed up. You practised. You stayed consistent – you are amazing

Health isn't something you "fix" when you turn 30, 40, 50... or any age.

I often hear people say, "I need to do something about my health." And yes—you absolutely do.

But health isn't an end goal. There is no finish line where you suddenly arrive and you're "healthy."

Health is a way of living. It's something we nurture every single day through the choices we make, the thoughts we think, the way we move, the food we eat, the rest we allow ourselves, and the compassion we show ourselves.

A quiet, compassionate commitment to nourishing your mind, body, and emotional wellbeing, one day at a time.

Even when our health isn't where we'd like it to be, there is no giving up. There are no excuses—only potential, an opportunity to evolve (yes that's scary) to live, to laugh, to feel joy in the present moment.
