A woman is warning about the dangers of sunbeds after getting a skin cancer diagnosis. Charlotte Birkett, 27, says she “wishes I’d never used sunbeds” after being diagnosed with a melanoma. May marks Skin Cancer Awareness Month and skin cancer specialists at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust have issued a reminder that there is no safe limit to sun exposure. A spokesperson from The Sunbed Association said: "We support responsible and moderate use by informed adults within professionally run salons operating under existing UK regulations. Professional salons are trained to assess skin type, advise on appropriate exposure times, and ensure sessions are supervised and controlled." #sunbeds #skincancer 27/05/2026
