H I G H L I G H T S.
Not every blonde needs a root melt.
Not every blonde needs a soft blend.
Defined highlights can look clean, bold, and intentional.
The key is placement.
When highlights are placed with purpose, you get contrast that frames the face and gives the colour shape. It stops the blonde from looking flat or washed out.
Defined blonde works well when someone wants:
ā¢ stronger dimension through the hair
ā¢ a look that stands out instead of blending away
ā¢ hair that actually looks āhighlightedā
ā¢ definition/contrast between the different colours in the hair

Not every blonde needs to be root melted or seamless.
Defined highlights can look just as intentional and beautiful when they are placed well.
A lot of people think blonde has to be super blended to look good. But that is just one style. Stronger, more defined highlights can add structure and brightness in a different way.
It all comes down to placement.
When highlights are placed with purpose, they can:
š¤frame the face with brightness
š¤add clear dimension so the blonde does not look flat
š¤give the hair movement and contrast
š¤keep the colour looking fresh between appointments
Blonde does not have to disappear into the hair to look good. Sometimes a bit of definition is exactly what makes it stand out.

Hereās a few things you should knowā¦
THE ENDS are the oldest part of your hair
Theyāve been through years of washing, heat, sun, brushing, tying up. The cuticle is worn down so pigment literally canāt grip properly.
POROSITY OVERLOAD
Damaged ends act like a sponge ā they grab colour fastā¦ then dump it just as fast. Thatās why they look amazing week one and washed out by week three.
SPLIT OR FRAYED CUTICLE
If the cuticle isnāt sealed, colour molecules escape every time you wash. Conditioner helps, but it canāt glue broken hair back together.
EXCESSIVE HEAT STYLING
Straighteners + curling wands on coloured ends = accelerated fade. Heat opens the cuticle and pushes pigment out.
HARD WATER
Mineral build-up dries the ends, dulls the colour and causes uneven fade
OLD COLOUR BUILD UP
Layer on layer of colour can actually make ends less stable over time, not more.
ENDS NEED CUTTING
Sometimes those ends have done their time. No treatment will make dead, porous hair hold colour like new growth.(see my previous post)
HONEST TRUTH (as always)
If colour keeps fading on the ends, the problem usually isnāt the dye ā itās the condition of the hair.

Things that could be ruining your colour!
š¤Hard water.
Minerals build up on the hair and make colour fade or turn brassy.
š¤Heat tools.
Straighteners and curling irons open the cuticle and pull colour out.
š¤Cheap shampoo.
Strong sulfates strip colour every time you wash.
š¤Washing too often.
Daily washing fades colour much faster.
š¤Sun exposure.
UV breaks down pigment and dulls the tone.
š¤Chlorine.
Pool water can shift the tone, especially on blonde hair.
š¤Dry hair.
Hair that lacks moisture struggles to hold colour
