What a way to spend the day, i was invited into Addictions north east to work with the ladies in there, the plan is to do different activities every week.

And what a day weve had, ive met some beautiful women who have took charge of their own lives and made positive changes to improve their future.

This is what wellness works is all about!
Helping people see their true self, Build relationships and see their worth.

Since founding the Fibromyalgia Support Group in 2018, I've seen first-hand how important community support can be.

The group originally met at the Youth Centre until COVID forced us to close. During that time, I realised that it wasn't just people living with fibromyalgia who needed support. Many others were struggling too. That's when we expanded the group into a wider Pain Support Group, welcoming people with a range of conditions and challenges.

After COVID, we successfully restarted the group at Dawdon Community Centre (Leanne Kennedy Centre), where it continues to run every Wednesday. I eventually stepped away to pursue a bigger vision, leaving the group in the capable hands of the committee, who continue to do an amazing job.

Over the years, I've noticed something that concerns me deeply: so many people are suffering in silence and isolating themselves from the world around them. This isn't limited to those with disabilities or chronic illness. People experiencing grief, trauma, loneliness, addiction, financial hardship, or simply the challenges of everyday life can all find themselves struggling with their mental health.

Do you, or someone you know, find life challenging?

Do you sometimes feel like there is nowhere to turn for support?

We know help exists, but waiting lists are often incredibly long, and sadly, for some people, support arrives too late.

That's why I want to create something different.

I want to create a welcoming community hub where people can come together, support one another, and feel valued. A place with no judgement, no labels, and no barriers. Somewhere you can enjoy a cuppa, have something to eat, join a workshop, learn a new skill, or simply spend time with others who care.

The vision is to create a Community Café and Wellbeing Hub featuring:

🎉 A community café

🎉 Sensory and play areas for children

🎉 Arts and crafts activities

🎉 Educational workshops

🎉 Beauty and wellness treatments

🎉 Volunteer opportunities

🎉 Support groups and community projects

We want to be there when support is needed most.

We want to give parents a chance to relax while their children play safely.

We want to bring younger and older generations together.

We want to help people discover new skills, share existing talents, build confidence, and make meaningful connections.

One area I'm particularly passionate about is supporting teenagers by helping them develop essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, self-care, and independence. With the pressures of modern life and the rising cost of living, many parents are working long hours just to make ends meet. Young people need safe spaces where they can learn, socialise, make friends, and prepare for adulthood.

We also want to work alongside local businesses and professionals, including beauticians, hairdressers, barbers, fitness instructors, yoga teachers, and wellbeing practitioners. Our aim is to subsidise up to 70% of the costs for people who need support the most, whether that's helping someone prepare for a job interview with a fresh haircut or providing access to wellness activities that would otherwise be out of reach.

We'll also collaborate with local organisations and charities to provide specialist support and services that we cannot deliver ourselves.

I truly believe that everyone has something valuable to offer. Whether it's a skill, experience, hobby, or simply time, we want to create opportunities for people to volunteer, contribute, and help shape the hub into something special.

This will be a Community Interest Company, meaning the community will be at the heart of every decision. Members will have a voice in deciding what activities, services, and facilities are provided. If it's possible, we'll do everything we can to make it happen.

Today, I'm asking for your help.

I have found a premises that could become the home of this vision, but the landlord requires a £6,000 deposit. Unfortunately, I cannot raise that amount alone.

With the support of our community, we can make this happen.

Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to creating a safe, welcoming space where nobody has to face life's challenges alone.

Together, we can build something that truly makes a difference.

If you'd like to support this project, volunteer your time, share your skills, or simply help spread the word, I'd love to hear from you.

Let's create something our community can be proud of.

As you may know i advertised to do some treatments for a largely reduced price, on a couple if people take me up on the offer and have raised a small amount to go towards the total. Still a long way to go, every little bit helps.

Anyhow during these treatments and after we had a really good discussion and we talked about some personal stuff, which i will not repeat as its their story to tell. It made me even more determined to get this hub up and running. This is what its all about, dont sit at home alone when theres others doing the same. The hub will give you a place to come to and spend time and talk (if thats what you want to do) or sit and read, join in activities.

The hub will be run for you, we want to bring the community back together again.

If you can donate please do, if you cant please share. The more shares the more reach we get.
