Brightening a blonde properly is a process, not a panic appointment.

My client originally went darker at another salon in the hope it would “improve the condition” of her hair. Let’s clear this up, depositing darker colour does not repair the hair. It simply adds pigment. Condition comes from what’s happening inside the fibre, not from making it brunette.

Going darker can sometimes create the illusion of shine because the cuticle lies flatter when the hair isn’t heavily lightened, but it does not reverse structural damage.

She knew pretty quickly that darker just wasn’t her. Blonde is part of her identity. So instead of rushing in with aggressive lightening, we took a slow, controlled approach to bring her back.

Here’s what that actually involved:

• Gentle, strategic lightening, focusing only where needed
• Respecting the previous artificial pigment before attempting lift
• Controlled developer choice and saturation
• Bond support throughout
• Realistic spacing between appointments
• A strict homecare plan to rebuild strength and moisture

When hair has been filled with darker artificial colour, lifting it back to blonde requires precision. Artificial pigment does not lift the same way natural pigment does. You have to understand underlying warmth, previous colour history, porosity and elasticity before even mixing a bowl.

Blonde done well is chemistry, structure and patience.

Healthy blonde is not about how light you can go in one sitting. It’s about protecting the integrity of the hair so the blonde can last.

If you’re thinking of going darker purely to “fix” damage, the real answer is a targeted repair plan, bond rebuilding treatments, moisture balance and professional guidance.

From Red to Bronde, The Start of Something Big 🤎✨

When my client said she was ready to move away from red and start her blonde and extension journey, I knew we were in for a transformation.

Let me just say… when I say there were a million foils, I am not exaggerating. My sectioning clips were working overtime and I’m fairly certain I used enough foil to wrap Selby for Christmas.

We lifted carefully using Yellow Professional 7 Levels Bleach, focusing on controlled, even lift while protecting the integrity of the hair. When you’re transitioning from red to bronde, patience is everything. It’s not a rush job, it’s a strategy.

Once we achieved that beautiful clean lift, I toned using Yellow Professional Tone on Tone colour to neutralise warmth and create the soft, dimensional bronde base you see here. This isn’t just a colour correction, it’s a foundation. A canvas. The beginning of a full blonding and extension transformation journey.

Moving from red to bronde takes precision foil placement, smart product choice and realistic expectations. But when it’s done properly, the result is seamless, natural and completely wearable.

This is just stage one… and I’m already excited for what’s coming next.
