In June 30 years ago I moved my little business ‘Bodylines’ to Holly Bush Lane.
I took over 48 Holly Bush Lane (now The Grumpy Pony Hobby Shop) from Avalon music who had been using it to display pianos.
In that part of the Lane back then was a Post office, a General store, Janet’s Kitchen, Lora shoes and bags and Masquerade women’s fashion. Next to me was C’est Bon hairdressers. It was a friendly little community where everyone knew each other and it was like a little village. The building had to be renovated, with two treatment rooms, a sunbed room(!) a reception area and even a shower. I built up the business there for 6 years, took on staff and survived the many ups and downs that come with running a small business as a sole trader.
In 2002 I came across a For sale sign above 28a Holly Bush Lane, a shop all on its own further up the Lane. It had been run by Mrs Crow for 23 years selling antiques and tapestry cushions and always looked really quirky and homely. I knew this was going to be ideal for me. The lease on number 48 was about to expire, and the rent was about to be increased. I had saved enough for a business mortgage and my bid on the property won!
A full gutting and renovation followed and I opened Bodylines 6 weeks later.
The business and I have been through many highs and lows professionally and personally, but I am proud to say that Bodylines is one of the longest surviving small businesses along this little lane and for that I am grateful. 🙌🏽💕

Aries/Taurus cusp, born on a Saturday “Saturday’s child works hard for a living”, definitely true!
Feeling better these days since giving up alcohol, confronting my food addiction (which will always be a work in progress), strengthening my muscles and bones at the gym (not regularly enough but consistently!), and following a spiritual path which encourages gratitude for each day. 💕 # # #
Today I am grateful for health, spring, my loved ones especially my 🐶. For my home, for a day off to enjoy the little things, going out for coffee, doing some sketching, for being able to sit in the spring sunshine and listen to the birds singing.
