Things not to do post Microneedling:

Don't apply makeup: Keep your face completely bare for at least 24 hours. Putting makeup over open micro-channels can trap bacteria and cause breakouts or infections.

Don't use active ingredients: Put away the Retinol, Vitamin C, AHAs (like glycolic acid), and BHAs (like salicylic acid). Stick strictly to a gentle, hydrating cleanser and a basic moisturizer/hyaluronic acid.

Don't skip the sunscreen (or bake in the sun): Your skin is highly vulnerable to UV damage right now. Avoid direct sun exposure, and if you must go outside, use a mineral SPF 30+ after the first 24 hours.

Don't sweat it out: Skip the heavy workouts, hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms for 48 hours. Sweat introduces bacteria to the skin, and excess heat can worsen inflammation and swelling.

Don't pick, scratch, or scrub: As your skin heals, it might flake or feel tight. Let it shed naturally! Avoid facial scrubs, washcloths, or picking at flakes, which can cause scarring.

Don't swim: Stay out of chlorinated pools, hot tubs, and lakes for at least 3 days to protect your skin from harsh chemicals and bacteria.

Alcohol: Your skin needs hydration to repair the tissue and produce collagen....so leave it 48ish hours 😉

Does it hurt? Will I bruise?

Both the most asked questions!

"How bad does it hurt?"
Honestly? Much less than you think.

Most cosmetic injectables (like dermal fillers) are formulated with a built-in numbing agent called lidocaine, which numbs the area from the inside out as the treatment happens

"Will I look bruised and battered tomorrow?"
It’s a distinct possibility, but it’s entirely manageable.

Your face is incredibly vascular—meaning it is packed with tiny, delicate blood vessels. When a needle passes through, a micro-bleed can happen under the skin, which forms a bruise. It isn't a sign that something went wrong; it's just anatomy!

If you do bruise, it typically peaks around Day 2 and fades over 5 to 7 days.

Don't schedule your treatment right before a major event (like a wedding or a big photo shoot). Give yourself a two-week buffer just to be safe.

Ever wondered why your besties treatment last longer than yours?? 🤨 Let’s talk about why neuromodulators are NOT one-size-fits-all.

The Product. "Botox" has become the Kleenex of the wrinkle-relaxing world, but there's actually a whole bar of options to choose from!

It's always so shocking to me when I ask new patients what previous product was used and they have no idea!

Some products on average last up to 3 months, whilst more newer brands are formulated with special peptides to go the distance (often up to 6 months)

But your body is the ultimate variable. 🧬

Your individual metabolism, how strong your facial muscles are, and how expressive you are all dictate how fast your body processes the product.

HOWEVER... you can't just blame your genetics. There are huge external factors that you control that directly impact your results:

🏋️‍♀️ The Gym: A super-fast metabolism from intense workout routines means your body clears the toxin much quicker.

☀️ Sun Exposure: UV rays cause inflammation and break down collagen. When your skin is damaged, wrinkles look deeper, making your tox appear to wear off faster.

🧴 The First 24 Hours: If you rub your face, lie down immediately after your appointment, or hit a hot sauna, you risk moving the product or breaking it down before it even binds to the muscle.

🗓️ Consistency: If you stretch your appointments out too far, your muscles regain full strength. Keeping a consistent schedule actually "trains" the muscle to stay relaxed longer.

At the end of the day, finding your perfect recipe takes a little patience and a skilled injector who knows your anatomy. 💉✨
