Massage pressure isn’t one-size-fits-all. It can change from one appointment to the next, and even from one area of your body to another.

Here at Kay’s Sanctuary in Heeley, I’ll check in with you and you can always ask me to ease off or apply a little more. You’re not making a fuss. It’s your treatment.

The best pressure isn’t the most you can tolerate. It’s the one your body can actually relax into.

I sometimes laugh when I say I’m starting work after the school run… because by 10am, it can already feel like I’ve lived half a day 😂

Maybe your morning looks completely different from mine. But if you’re the one everybody relies on, I’m guessing you know the feeling.

When you come through my door, you might already have half a day running through your head before you’ve even sat down.

That’s why I get the bed ready, soften the room and take care of the little details before you arrive.

It isn’t about making everything look perfect. It’s about making sure you don’t have to walk in and manage one more thing.

You can talk, be quiet or simply sit down and breathe for a minute. 💜

Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s done a full shift before 10am 😂

Where to eat. What to watch. What time works. What you’d like for your birthday…

Whatever is easiest for everybody else.

We call ourselves low-maintenance because it sounds like we’re easy going and no bother. But sometimes, we’ve just spent so long fitting around everyone else that we don’t even notice we’re going without.

You don’t need to become demanding or start making a PowerPoint about where you want to eat 😂

But you are allowed to have preferences. You’re allowed to want quiet, care and a little time where nobody needs anything from you.

It’s one of the reasons Kay’s Sanctuary is private and one-to-one.

You can talk, be quiet, come exactly as you are… and let somebody else consider you for once. 💜

So, next time “I’m not fussed” slips out automatically, pause for a second…

Sometimes the hardest part of doing something for yourself isn’t finding the time.

It’s giving yourself permission to actually take it.

There’s always something else that could be done. Something around the house. Someone who needs you. Something you could spend the money on instead.

And somehow, your own hour becomes the easiest thing to push to the bottom of the list.

But I don’t think self-care always needs a big reason behind it.
Sometimes “I’m tired of being needed for a bit” is reason enough. 💜

That’s exactly what I want Kay’s Sanctuary to be for.

A quiet little space where you can come in, switch off for a while and let somebody else do the looking after.

And if you’ve been telling yourself you’ll make some time for you eventually… maybe this is your little reminder that you’re allowed to 💜

Funny thing is, I don’t think I fully understood why I called it Kay’s Sanctuary when I first chose the name.

I just knew I wanted it to feel different.

I didn’t want women walking through my door feeling like they needed to be dressed up, have their life together or suddenly become the polished version of themselves because they were having a treatment.

And over time I think I’ve understood why that mattered to me so much.

Women spend so much of their lives showing up for everybody else.

Mum. Partner. Work. Family. The house. The never-ending list of things somebody apparently needs RIGHT NOW 😂

So the last thing I wanted was for self-care to become another place where you feel like you have to perform.

Yes, you might be booking a massage, your brows, your nails or a skin treatment.

But I hope what you actually find when you get here is somewhere you can just… be.

Chat my head off. Sit quietly. Come straight from the school run. Tell me you’ve had a s**t week. 😂

You’re still welcome.

And I think that’s what I was trying to create all along.

Not just somewhere to have a treatment.

Somewhere you get to be looked after for once. 💜

One of the loveliest realisations I’ve had while building Kay’s Sanctuary is that the things which feel ordinary to me can make such a difference to the woman walking through my door.

The privacy. The one-to-one experience. Knowing she won’t be walking into a busy room or wondering who might be looking at her.

Because not every woman wants somewhere bigger or busier.

Sometimes she just wants somewhere she can arrive as she is, settle into the space and feel comfortable enough to properly switch off.

And maybe, if busy salons have never really felt like your kind of place, it doesn’t mean beauty treatments aren’t for you.

Perhaps you just needed a different kind of space.

And if you’re reading this thinking, “That sounds more like me”… perhaps you’ve just found it 💜

There’s always a little bit of getting ready before someone arrives.

Fresh towels. The bed made. Everything set up. Making sure the room feels just right.

But I know for the woman walking through my door, it can mean a little more than that.

It might be the one hour in her day where nobody needs anything from her. No rushing around. No jobs to do. No having to be anything for anybody else.

She can just come in, shut the door and have a bit of time that’s actually hers.

And honestly, that’s the part of Kay’s Sanctuary I love creating just as much as the treatments themselves. 💜

When was the last time you had an hour that was completely yours?

When did doing the food shop alone become “me time”? 😂

You can adore the people in your life and still sometimes think… can everybody please stop needing me for five minutes?

That doesn’t make you ungrateful. Sometimes you’re simply tired of being the one remembering, organising, sorting and looking after everybody else.

And I think that’s why having something that’s just yours matters.

It’s one of the biggest reasons I created Kay’s Sanctuary - somewhere you can arrive tired, hair a mess, brain still going at 100mph… and you don’t have to look after anybody.

For that little bit of time, I look after you. 💜
