These photos make me cringe and laugh. đ big thanks to Lynda Christine Barton for digging them out.
Looking back, there were some great haircuts when âŚI started working with Emma and there were definitely a few questionable ones from my school years!
But theyâve reminded me of something important.
Long before I became a hairdresser, I was a client trying to find someone who really understood short hair.
Not someone who made me look 20 years older! (I wish I had photos of those awful bouffant blowdries or the time I walked out of the salon looking like something from the film Conhead!)
Not someone who tried to talk me into growing it.
Someone who understood that short hair can be soft, bold, alternative, effortlessâor all of those things at once.
I know what itâs like to walk into a salon hoping someone will understand your vision.
And I know how good it feels when they do.
Thatâs why short hair has become one of my favourite things to cut. Every consultation starts with getting to know you, your style, your routine, and how you want to feel when you leave.
Maybe thatâs why my recent posts about short hair have resonated with so many people. Theyâre not really about hair.
Theyâre about feeling understood.
If youâve been looking for a hairdresser who genuinely enjoys cutting short hair and takes the time to listen, Iâd love to welcome you when a space becomes available.

One line from a recent review has really stayed with me...
âSometimes I find going to a new hairdresser excruciating, but I felt at ease immediately.â đ¤
As much as I love hearing that someone is happy with their haircut, comments like this mean a lot .
I know how daunting it can feel to trust someone new, especially when you have short hair and want a stylist who really understands the look youâre trying to achieve.
Thatâs why every appointment starts with a proper consultation. My goal isnât just for you to leave with a haircut you love, itâs for you to leave feeling listened to, understood and completely at ease.
Hereâs the full review that inspired this post...

âThank you Sarah, I love my cut and itâs so versatile. I really like not having to phone for an appointment and am pleased to have booked in my next cut. I asked for a funky short cut that just works for me and my lifestyle and I love it, thanks. Sometimes I find going to a new hairdresser excruciating but I felt at ease immediately. Thank you, appreciated.â
