☀️🏖️ Holiday Footcare Tips – Keep Your Feet Happy This Summer 👣

✈️ Wear comfortable footwear when travelling
Long journeys can cause your feet to swell. Choose supportive shoes with a little room and avoid anything that rubs.

🩴 Be careful around pools and communal areas
Always wear flip-flops or pool shoes in changing rooms, around swimming pools and in shared shower facilities to reduce the risk of picking up infections such as athlete's foot or verrucas.

👣 Don't ignore blisters
At the first sign of rubbing, cover the area with a blister plaster. It's much easier to prevent a blister than deal with one once it has formed.

🧴 Moisturise daily
Sun, sand and increased activity can dry out your skin. Apply a good foot cream each day to help prevent cracked heels.

☀️ Don't forget sunscreen
The tops of your feet are often exposed and easily missed. Apply sunscreen regularly, especially if you're wearing sandals/flip flops.

🚶 Pack supportive footwear
Those flat holiday flip-flops may be convenient, but they aren't designed for long walks. If you're sightseeing, choose supportive trainers or walking sandals.

💅 Trim nails before you travel
Cutting and filing your nails before your holiday can help prevent discomfort, especially if you'll be doing lots of walking.

💧 Stay hydrated
Warm weather and increased activity can contribute to swelling. Drinking plenty of water can help your body regulate fluid balance.

🔍 Check your feet regularly
If you have diabetes, poor circulation or reduced sensation, inspect your feet daily for any changes, blisters, cuts or areas of concern.

Why do we have Nail Tech Day ?

National Nail Tech Day is celebrated to recognize and appreciate the work of professional nail technicians—the people behind manicures, pedicures, nail art, and overall nail care.

💅 Why it exists
There are a few main reasons this day was created:

1. To appreciate their skill and creativity
Nail techs don’t just paint nails—they create detailed designs, work with different techniques (like acrylics, gels, BIAB), and often keep up with fast-changing beauty trends.

2. To highlight their role in self-care
For many people, getting their nails done is part of relaxation, confidence, and personal expression. Nail techs contribute to that experience.

3. To recognize hard work in a demanding job
The job often involves long hours, precision work, customer service and often being a shoulder to cry on.

4. To support the beauty industry
It’s also a way to bring attention to the nail and beauty sector as a whole, encouraging people to support local technicians.
