Migraine rarely comes alone.
For so many of us, it's not just the head pain.
It's the nausea. The neck pain. The dizziness. The light sensitivity. The anxiety. The exhaustion.
They're all connected, and understanding those connections can make you feel a little less alone.
Which "toxic relationship" does your migraine bring with it?
Let me know below. π
Your brain and gut are connected through the gut-brain axis. During a migraine attack, changes in the nervous system and chemicals like serotonin can slow digestion, causing symptoms such as nausea, bloating, and even vomiting. That's why migraine is much more than just head pain.
The same nerves involved in migraine also process pain from the neck and upper shoulders. This means neck pain is often part of the migraine attack itself, rather than the thing causing it. Treating the neck may help symptoms, but it's important to address the migraine, too.
Migraine can affect the brain areas that process balance and spatial awareness. This can leave you feeling dizzy, unsteady, or like you're walking on a boat, even without a severe headache. It's a recognised migraine symptom, not "just being clumsy."
With migraine, the brain becomes more sensitive to light and processes visual information differently. That's why fluorescent lights, bright sunshine, and screens can feel painful, even when your eyes themselves are completely healthy.
Living with unpredictable migraine attacks can naturally increase anxiety, while stress and anxiety can make the nervous system more sensitive and contribute to migraine attacks. It's a two-way relationship, which is why many people experience both together.
Migraine affects the whole brain and body, not just your head. Your brain uses more energy during an attack, and changes in brain activity can leave you feeling exhausted before, during and even after the migraine has passed.
Which toxic migraine relationship are you dealing with today? π
Migraine is so much more than "just a headache." It can affect your gut, neck, balance, vision, energy, and even your mental wellbeing.

π Meet the lovely Lillie π
I had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful Lily last week, where she chose our Tranquility frame.
About an hour later, she came back to see me, and it completely made my day. She told me how much she was loving the glasses and that they were already helping her while she was walking around the show.
Moments like these are exactly why I love attending in-person events. There's nothing quite like meeting the incredible people behind every order, hearing their stories, and seeing the difference Aura Clarity is making in real time.
Thank you, Lillie, for your kindness and for coming back to share your experience with me. It truly meant so much. π
Thank you to all the other wonderful people I met π
π³ Did you know we plant trees? π³
At Aura Clarity, we're passionate about making a positive impact, not just for people living with migraine, but for the planet too.
For every pair of glasses sold, we plant one tree through our partnership with
Since our partnership with began, we've planted 262 trees, and we're just getting started! π±
Every order helps us support reforestation, biodiversity, and a greener future.
A huge thank you to every single person who has supported Aura Clarity. Every purchase really does make a difference in more ways than one. π
Together, we're helping people see more comfortably while giving something back to the planet.
Advocating for migraine is something I'm incredibly passionate about. π
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit Portcullis House in Parliament to meet with my local MP alongside Rob Music, CEO of The Migraine Trust
I arranged the meeting because I wanted to explore how we can work together to secure even more support for people living with migraine and for the incredible work The Migraine Trust does.
We had a really positive discussion about the important role MPs can play in helping to raise the profile of migraine in Parliament, whether that's asking parliamentary questions, supporting awareness campaigns, or championing better care and recognition for the millions of people affected across the UK.
Migraine is so often misunderstood, despite being one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Conversations like these are an important step towards improving awareness, access to care, and ensuring the voices of people living with migraine are heard.
A huge thank you to Rob and my local MP for taking the time to meet and for supporting this important conversation. I'm looking forward to continuing to advocate for everyone living with migraine.
π If you or someone you know is affected by migraine, I highly recommend visiting The Migraine Trust website . They have a wealth of trusted information, practical resources, and a dedicated helpline if you need additional support. You don't have to navigate migraine alone.

Things I Do Because I Live With Chronic Migraine π
People often see the cancelled plans.
They don't see the internal debate, the disappointment, or the guilt that comes with trying to protect your health.
Living with chronic migraine means constantly weighing up whether something is worth the recovery that might follow.
Sometimes, the hardest decision is admitting that your body simply can't do what your heart wants to.
I've learnt that protecting my health isn't selfish. It's necessary.
Does anyone else struggle with the guilt that comes after cancelling plans?
You're definitely not alone. π
