👀 DID YOU KNOW?
Sometimes we experience muscle weakness but it isn't because we don't exercise or go to the gym, train hard enough or lift heavy weights etc. Sometimes it's because the muscles have adhesions.
Adhesions (or myofascial adhesions) in the muscles can also cause weakness. When scar tissue and dense fibrous bands form between muscle fibers or the surrounding connective tissue (fascia), they restrict the muscle's ability to contract and lengthen efficiently. This restriction can also compress nearby nerves, further inhibiting muscle function and leading to sensations of weakness.
There are a few key ways these adhesions contribute to weakness:
Altered Mechanics: Adhesions can change the resting length of a muscle, preventing it from generating its normal, full force during a contraction.
Restricted Blood Flow: Scar tissue can reduce local circulation, leading to tissue hypoxia (lack of oxygen) and reduced stamina in the affected muscles.
Nerve Entrapment: When nerves are bound by or restricted near the adhesions, their ability to transmit signals from the brain to the muscles is hindered, directly causing weakness.
If you are experiencing muscle weakness or localized tightness, there are a variety of approaches to diagnosing the exact cause and restoring mobility.
I can help you explore specific causes or provide strategies on how to safely manage and treat these symptoms.

Poor posture isn't just about how you sit—it's often a sign of muscle imbalance.
Many common postural issues happen because some muscles become tight and overactive, while others become weak and underactive. Over time, this can lead to: ✔️ Neck and shoulder pain ✔️ Lower back discomfort ✔️ Headaches ✔️ Reduced mobility ✔️ Poor performance in the gym or sport.
Sports massage therapy can help by:
💪Releasing tight, overworked muscles
🧘 Improving flexibility and range of motion
🩸 Increasing blood flow to aid recovery
🏃♀️ Helping restore better movement patterns
💪Supporting your posture alongside targeted strengthening exercises
Massage isn't a quick fix for posture, but it's a powerful tool to reduce tension, improve movement, and make corrective exercises more effective, so if
you're constantly feeling stiff, achy, or struggling with your posture, let's work together to get you moving better.
📓 Book your sports massage today and start addressing the root cause of your muscular imbalances—not just the symptoms.

A sports massage can be a valuable part of a long-distance runner's training and recovery plan. When used at the right time, it may improve comfort, support recovery, and help maintain muscle health. However, it should complement—not replace—good training, nutrition, hydration, and rest.
🏃♀️Before long-distance running
A pre-event sports massage is usually short (15–30 minutes) and uses lighter, stimulating techniques rather than deep pressure.
👉Benefits include:
Increasing blood flow to working muscles.
Improving flexibility and joint mobility.
Reducing muscle stiffness and tension.
Helping runners feel mentally prepared and relaxed.
Identifying areas of tightness that may need extra attention.
A deep tissue massage immediately before a race is generally not recommended, as it can leave muscles feeling sore or fatigued.
🏃♂️After long-distance running
A post-event sports massage is typically performed several hours to a couple of days after the run, depending on the intensity and the runner's condition.
👉Potential benefits include:
Reducing muscle tightness and stiffness.
Encouraging circulation, which supports the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to recovering tissues.
Helping reduce the feeling of soreness after prolonged exercise.
Improving flexibility and range of motion.
Promoting relaxation and reducing stress after the physical demands of a long run.
❓When to schedule a sports massage
2–7 days before a marathon or race: A maintenance massage can help address muscle tightness without leaving you sore.
24–48 hours before a race: If you choose to have a massage, keep it light and brief.
24–72 hours after a race: A gentle recovery massage can help ease soreness once your body has begun recovering.
During training: Regular sports massages every few weeks may help manage accumulated muscle tension and identify potential problem areas before they develop into injuries.
Conclusion
✅Sports massage can be an effective tool for long-distance runners when timed appropriately.
✅Before a run, it prepares muscles for activity by improving mobility and reducing tension.
✅After a run, it can ease stiffness, promote relaxation, and support recovery. Combined with proper training, hydration, nutrition, stretching, and adequate sleep, sports massage can contribute to better performance and a more comfortable recovery.
