I don’t talk about this much… but it’s something I’ve noticed in the hair extension industry for a long time 🤍
There’s a lot of amazing people in this industry.
But there’s also a lot of ego.
People acting like there’s only room for one successful extensionist.
People holding information back because they’re scared someone else might get ahead.
It never sat right with me.
Building a successful hair extension business is hard enough without feeling judged for asking questions or worrying about who will and won’t help you.
Helping another extensionist doesn’t make you less successful.
Sharing your knowledge doesn’t take money out of your bank account.
And there is more than enough clients, money and opportunities to go around ✨

So proud of Zhane 🥹🩷
Since joining me a month ago, she’s welcomed 10 new client bookings into her business.
The best part of it is, Zhane didn’t come into Booked & Bossed needing to become a better extension technician, she came in feeling invisible.
Her work was already SO good, but she felt like she was blending in online and struggling to give people a reason to choose her over everyone else they were seeing.
I know there are SO many extension techs can relate to that.
You’re posting, showing up, and your current clients are happy. But your diary still isn’t reflecting how good you actually are. Maybe you’re trying to leave your 9-5 but you just can’t seem to get past a certain point that gets you there… And I know that because I was there one too! 🙈

I know this might be controversial, especially coming from an educator.
Because yes, when you’re a beginner, your prices shouldn’t be the same as somebody who’s spent 10 years building their reputation.
But they also shouldn’t be so low that you’re attracting clients who only care about price.
One of the biggest mistakes I see new hair extension specialists make is trying to buy bookings with cheap prices.
The problem is, the clients you attract because you’re cheap often aren’t the clients who stay when your prices increase.
Pricing isn’t just about covering your costs.
It’s about positioning.
It’s about communicating value.
It’s about attracting the type of client you actually want to build your business around.
Because trust me, building a clientele full of loyal clients who rebook, refer their friends and respect your expertise is a lot easier than constantly trying to replace price shoppers who leave for the next “deal”.
The goal isn’t to become the cheapest specialist in your area.
The goal is to become the specialist people believe is worth paying for.

POV: your work starts looking like the Pinterest board your clients save ☁️✨
One thing I’ve noticed after years in this industry is that high standards rarely happen by accident.
They start with good education.
Not just learning how to physically fit a method, but understanding placement, colour matching, density matching, cutting, shaping, blending and all the small details that separate a good result from an exceptional one.
Because clients don’t see the placement map or the cutting techniques behind the finish.
What they do see is the final result.
They see whether the hair looks seamless, whether it moves naturally, whether it feels premium and whether it looks like something worth investing in.
That’s why the extension specialists who consistently attract great clients, charge well and build strong reputations are usually the ones who never stop learning.
They understand that improving their skills isn’t just about creating prettier hair. It’s about creating more trust, more demand and more opportunities.
The standard of your work will always influence the standard of clients, opportunities and income available to you.
Everything starts with the quality of the education you receive and what you choose to do with it afterwards.

The crazy thing is, when I made that phone call to my mum, I genuinely believed the problem was me.
I thought maybe I wasn’t good enough.
Maybe I’d picked the wrong area.
Maybe there were too many hair extension specialists already.
Maybe I just needed to be more patient.
What I didn’t realise at the time was that talent isn’t what gets you booked.
Being known does.
Because clients can’t choose you if they’ve never heard of you.
They can’t trust you if you’ve never given them a reason to.
And they definitely won’t pay premium prices if, from their perspective, you look exactly the same as everybody else.
The turning point wasn’t another qualification.
It wasn’t another method.
It wasn’t waiting another six months hoping things would magically improve.
The turning point was learning how to position myself properly, communicate my value and become impossible to ignore.
That one shift allowed me to rebuild a clientele from scratch, attract clients who travel to me, pay for my wedding in full, create £5k+ months and build a business that gives me options instead of stress.

The problem might not be your skill.

My lovely new client came to me having never tried nanos before. She trusted me and the process, and safe to say it paid off 🫶🏼
She told me today she’s never been able to wear her hair straight when having extensions before due to the blend not being perfect. One thing that I always guarantee is that my clients can wear their hair straight. I always show them it straight so they know I’m not hiding any bad blends or poor colour matches too, and this is something I drill into my students in my training academy. I teach in depth about matching densities, colour matching and blending of hair extensions so there are no issues 🫶🏼✨
Nanos are PERFECT for clients like this, who want fullness and length, but the flexibility to wear them in different styles, thanks to their 360 degree motion, unlike tapes & weaves.

This hair is SIX months old 🤯
This is what happens when great hair extensions meet a great client. Pic one is Olivia’s last refit, pic 2 is 3rd December 2025 when the fresh hair was fitted ✨
Because premium clients understand something a lot of people don’t:
