Supporting research, one breath at a time 🫁

It’s always exciting to see the POWERbreathe K5 being used in new research.

A recent study investigating inspiratory muscle strength and cardiorespiratory fitness in older adults used the K5 to measure S-Index, inspiratory flow and volume - helping researchers better understand the impact of age-related muscle loss on respiratory function.

Every new study helps grow the evidence base and our understanding of respiratory muscle assessment across different populations.

🏊 Summer of Sport Insight #5 “More training is not the answer.”

Following his performance in the Commonwealth Games, Adam Peaty reflected that working harder isn’t always the solution. Former Commonwealth champion Karen Pickering echoed the same message:

“It is learning to recover quicker. What do I need to eat? What do I need to drink? How do I get that lactic acid out of my body – massages or ice baths?” Looking at you HaB Direct 👀

The biggest gains aren’t always found by adding more training sessions.

Sometimes they’re found by improving the quality of your recovery and paying attention to the fundamentals that support performance.

For many athletes, that includes breathing.

Because performance isn’t just built in training - it’s built in how well you recover between efforts.

🫁 Every breath counts.

We’ve all been taught how to run, lift, swim or cycle.
But how many of us have ever been taught how to breathe?

Breathing is a skill that develops over time, and like any movement pattern, it can become more or less efficient.
That’s why breathing assessment matters.
