My favourite thing about what I do, is seeing the finished result.

This customer came to me with a very clear idea on what he wanted.

As he had never worn dreads before we talked about his expectations vs reality especially in terms of weight and the initial "wearing in" process that happens with all new extensions. Despite my concerns that he may have jumped in at the deep end in terms of weight, he has made it through 3 weeks and is still happy with the result.

If you are buying dreads, make sure you know what you want and how you want it to look.

Getting dreads is no different to getting a new haircut... Not every hair cut will suit everyone, there needs to be a consultation to make sure you don't end up with dreads that don't work for you, or that you have a bad experience with.

I would rather lose a customer to another dread artist who can give the customer what they want (if I can't), than sell something that isn't suitable for them and their lifestyle. I know some amazing artists and am always happy to refer customers if it is right for them.

Some accent dreads I'm currently finishing up. Set of 10 transitional crochet and steam sealed dreads in autumn fire colours.

They are long, from 38 to 34 inches with matching DE braids as well. I'm playing around with slightly different sealing techniques for different textures. Despite being tightly sealed and twisted using steam to ensure durability, these still have a natural look to them which I like.

I have put together a care sheet that I send to my customers but it may help others when they are looking for dreads too....

Synthetic dreads should not be an impulse buy, they can be expensive (if you're buying good quality hand made dreads) and they don't suit everyone, that is aesthetically and in terms of lifestyle!

Make sure you research what you want, message more than one seller, see what they ask you, are they making sure they are making dreads that will suit you, or are they just going for a sale?

I have referred people to other dread makers more than once, I know my style and sometimes I may not be the best fit. I will always put the customer and my reputation above a sale.
