There’s a common belief that washing your hair every day will automatically make your colour disappear faster, but it’s not quite that simple.

Yes, every wash can contribute to gradual fading, but how you wash your hair can matter just as much as how often.

🚿 Very hot water can open the hair cuticle and encourage colour to fade more quickly.

🧴 Harsh or unsuitable shampoos can strip colour faster, so choosing products designed for coloured hair really does make a difference.

🔥 Heat styling without protection and ☀️ UV exposure can also break down colour pigments over time.

✨ Keeping on top of glosses, toners and conditioning treatments can help maintain tone, shine and the overall condition of your hair between bigger colour appointments.

We absolutely love creating both blondes and brunettes here at E’Clips, and whilst they’re both gorgeous in their own way, they don’t have quite the same maintenance routine. Understanding what each colour needs doesn’t just help you choose the right look for your lifestyle, it also helps you keep that salon fresh finish looking its best for longer⬇️

Salon appointments
💇🏼‍♀️ Blondes: Usually benefit from appointments every 6-8 weeks to brighten, tone and keep regrowth looking seamless
💇🏻‍♀️ Brunettes: Can often go 8-12 weeks between appointments, depending on how rich, dark or dimensional the colour is

Root regrowth
💇🏼‍♀️ Blondes: Regrowth is usually more noticeable, so touch-ups tend to be needed more often
💇🏻‍♀️ Brunettes: Roots are often softer and less obvious, making them a great option if you prefer a lower-maintenance colour

Hair health
💇🏼‍♀️ Blondes: Lightening places more stress on the hair, so regular hydration, strengthening treatments and trims are essential
