Allergic reaction is probably the saddest thing that could happen to any lash lover 😱

🔴 So what's causing it? What to do if you become allergic?

There are two types of allergies:
- when a person is born with a sensitivity to a certain ingredient
- when a person builds up an allergic reaction to a certain ingredient, even when they've never had a reaction to it before
From this we know, that even if you've had your lashes done for years - this doesn't mean you will never be allergic.
How high is the risk?
Very low. Only have 1 client developing a reaction per year or two.

🔴 What are the symptoms?

- red, swollen, itchy and painful eyelids
- possible discharge
- possible dry and flaky skin on eye lids
These symptoms would show up within 1 to 2 days after having your lashes done. If it happens later it's most likely caused by poor eye hygiene and infection.
IMPORTANT: red eyeballs are NOT a symptom of allergic reaction. This is usually caused by adhesive fumes or eye pads irritating the surface of the eyeball.
What to do if you think you are allergic?
- let your stylist know asap

- ask your gp or pharmacist for antihistamines

- if symptoms don't improve fast book an appointment for a removal with your lash stylist

Once you've developed an allergic reaction you will most likely be allergic again, regardless of what type of glue is used as all lash glues contain the same active ingredient - cyanoacrylate. For this reason no further applications can be carried out.

🔴 Who's fault?

No one's. It can happen to any person, every lash stylist, regardless of what products were used and how long for. Unfortunately allergic reactions are not under our control ☝️
