😂 RIGHT… WHO ACTUALLY IS ADRIAN?!

For anyone who’s new to the page, or has been coming to see me for years and still doesn’t really know what I’m about, I thought I’d introduce myself properly…

I’m Adrian, the owner of Edge Salon at Oakedge — and I’ve been doing hair for what feels like approximately 400 years. 😂

I trained at Francesco Group, then worked for them for nearly 10 years, before taking the massive step of opening my own salon, Haywood Hair Studio in Little Haywood, which I owned for 8 years.

So I’ve been around the hairdressing block a few times! ✂️

These days, I work 13–14 hour days, five days a week, which is probably why I’ve reached the stage where I’ve completely given up pretending I care about looking stylish at work.

Yes, I wear Skechers. 👟

And do you know what? I’m not apologising for it. 😂

When you’re on your feet for 13 hours, you can keep your bloody designer shoes — I want something that feels like I’m walking on a cloud!

And before anyone thinks I’m completely insane for working these ridiculous hours… there is actually a method to my madness.

I work this bloody hard because I want to give myself, Ralph my dog and Chester my horse, a bloody good life. ❤️

They cost me an absolute fortune, they’re both spoilt rotten, and honestly… I wouldn’t have it any other way. 😂

I also want Edge to be somewhere you can actually RELAX.

If you’re the only person in the salon and you want to v**e… V**E! 😂

I genuinely don’t care. If sitting there having a v**e makes you feel relaxed, then crack on. I’m not the v**e police! 😂

Hair-wise, my absolute favourite things to do are pixie cuts and bobs. I love a good short haircut, a sharp shape and anything that makes someone walk out feeling like a completely different person.

And I’m not finished with Edge yet…

I’m constantly thinking about what I can improve, what I can buy and how I can make the salon even better. I want to spend more money on it, add things and keep building it into somewhere I’m really proud of.

I’m just working my arse off to get there! 😂

And honestly, moving to Edge at Oakedge was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Looking back at the old place in Hixon now, I genuinely don’t know how I survived it. 😂

It was basically a dingy little cave, and the toilet was upstairs. 😭😂

Whereas now I’ve got light, space, proper neighbours and a salon that actually feels like somewhere I WANT to be.

💪 MEET THE NEIGHBOUR – LIFE SPORT FITNESS 💪

Last but certainly not least in my Meet the Neighbour series, it’s Lloyd from Life Sport Fitness!

Lloyd is one of those genuinely lovely people who is just an absolute pleasure to have here at Oak Edge. Always friendly, always encouraging and clearly passionate about helping people feel fitter, stronger and more confident.

He offers 1-to-1 personal training, running coaching, strength & conditioning and group bootcamps, and he particularly specialises in working with the over-50s, proving that getting stronger and fitter definitely isn’t just for the youngsters! 💪😂

What I really like about Lloyd’s approach is that it’s about real people and real results — whatever your age or current fitness level. No intimidating gym atmosphere, just proper support, encouragement and training tailored to you.

And judging by the amount of activity I see going on up there, he certainly keeps everyone busy! 😂

Another fantastic independent business and another reason why Oak Edge is such a lovely little community to work in. ❤️

✨ Before & After ✨

A lovely new client in the salon today who came to me after her previous colour hadn’t quite gone to plan… 😬

The aim was to correct the colour, get rid of the unwanted tones and bring her hair back as close as possible to a beautiful, natural shade — while keeping the condition of the hair our priority.

What a difference! 😍 We’re almost completely back to her natural colour, the hair looks so much healthier and, most importantly, she left absolutely delighted with it.

🐾 MEET THE NEIGHBOUR – DOGROOMIN’ SALON 🐾

This week it’s the turn of the wonderful Emily and her team at Dogroomin’ Salon! 🐶✂️

Emily works alongside two other fantastic dog groomers, and between the three of them they certainly know how to keep the local pooches looking their absolute best!

The whole team are Level 3 City & Guilds qualified and First Aid trained, so you know your four-legged family members are in very capable hands. But what really stands out is just how much they genuinely love dogs. ❤️

Emily is honestly one of the loveliest people you could meet, and her passion for what she does really shows. The care, patience and attention they give every dog that comes through the door is wonderful.

And I think the fact they’ve got a waiting list as long as your arm probably tells you everything you need to know! 😂🐾

We’re so lucky to have another brilliant independent business and such lovely people as our neighbours.

So here’s to Emily and the whole Dogroomin’ Salon team — keeping Oak Edge’s dogs looking considerably more glamorous than the rest of us! 😂✨🐩

🐟 MEET THE NEIGHBOUR – NICK THE FISH 🦀🦞

It’s time for another Meet the Neighbour from Oak Edge, and this week it’s the absolutely lovely Nick the Fish! 🐟

If you love your seafood, you NEED to pay Nick a visit. From beautiful fresh fish to crab, lobster and all things seafood, the quality is absolutely incredible. 🦀🦞🐠

I can’t even take the credit for this recommendation either – so many of my clients rave about Nick and tell me how amazing his fish is. Whatever they’ve bought from him, the verdict always seems to be the same… absolutely delicious! 👌

And as if that wasn’t enough, Nick genuinely has to be one of the loveliest men you could ever meet. Always friendly, always welcoming and always happy to help.

Another little gem to have here at Oak Edge ❤️
