If you’re due to have an MRI scan or any medical scan that uses magnetic technology — please read this carefully! 💡

Many people don’t know that magnetic gel nail polish, chrome powder, or any chrome-finish products used in manicures and pedicures contain metal-based ingredients. When exposed to the strong magnetic fields used in MRI and similar scans, these products can:

- Heat up, causing discomfort or skin burns

- Interfere with scan results, making images unclear or inaccurate
​
- In rare cases, cause small movements of the product on your nails

The key thing to know: Doctors and scan staff don’t always specifically ask if you have these types of nail products on — it’s not yet a standard question in every check-in. That means you might go for your scan unaware of the risk!

✅ What you can do:

- If you have magnetic gel, chrome powder, or chrome finish on your nails and have a scan booked, have it removed beforehand.

- Always tell the scan team exactly what nail products you have on, even if they don’t ask.
