Do you believe that once your scar can no longer improve?
Here are five things that I wish more people knew about scars...

A lot of what I do happens quietly behind the scenes.
-Ongoing training.
-Keeping up to date with research.
-Developing specialist skills.
-Reflecting on client care.
I'm passionate about continually learning so I can provide the very best support for the people who trust me with their recovery journeys.
It's a privilege I never take for granted.

This is one of the questions I'm asked most often.
The answer is: it depends.
Everyone heals differently and timing will vary depending on the type of surgery or treatment you've had. I can't work with anyone until visible scabs have completely healed.
During an initial consultation we'll discuss your medical history, your scar and whether treatment is appropriate for you.
If you're unsure, please do get in touch via the contact form on my website.
I'm always happy to point you in the right direction.

A gentle reminder today…
Your body is not behind.
Healing doesn't follow a strict timeline.
Recovery looks different for every person.
Be patient with yourself.
Celebrate the small wins.
And remember that asking for support is a strength, not a weakness.

Scar tissue doesn't just sit on the surface.
Scars can create changes through multiple layers of tissue, which may contribute to feelings of tightness, pulling or restriction.
For some people this may affect movement, posture or everyday comfort.
Scar Therapy uses gentle techniques to support the tissue and improve mobility.
If you've ever wondered why your scar still feels tight months or years later, you're certainly not alone.

When we think of scars, we often think of the marks we can see.
But surgery, illness and significant life events can leave emotional scars too.
Healing isn't always linear, and recovery often extends far beyond the physical.
One of the things I love most about my work is creating a safe, supportive space where people feel heard as well as treated.
Every person's journey is unique.

Summer often encourages us to slow down a little.
But self-care isn't always bubble baths and spa days.
Sometimes self-care is listening to your body.
Booking the appointment you've been putting off.
Giving yourself permission to prioritise your own wellbeing.
Whether you're navigating life after surgery, recovering from cancer treatment or adjusting to your body after a caesarean birth, your recovery deserves attention too.
You don't have to simply "put up with it".

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is hearing clients talk about the small changes.
Being able to reach a little further.
Feeling more comfortable in certain clothing.
Sleeping better.
Moving with greater ease.
Feeling more connected to their body again.
Scar Therapy isn't about perfection. It's about supporting the body and helping people feel more comfortable and confident in their everyday lives.

One of the most common questions I hear:
"Is my scar too old for Scar Therapy?"
In most cases, no.
I regularly see clients with scars that are several years old.
While every scar responds differently, it is never too late to explore whether Scar Therapy may help improve comfort, movement or awareness in the area.
If you're wondering whether treatment may be suitable for you, please get in touch.
