A little bit of education today on what actually happens underneath our skin as we age 👩🏼‍⚕️✨

This lovely lady is only in her mid-30s, but over time the malar fat pad (SOOF fat pad) underneath the eye and through the cheek area had started to descend and lose support.

This is something we naturally see as we age.

As Aesthetics Practitioners, we aren’t simply treating what we see on the surface.
We’re constantly assessing:

• Facial anatomy
• Blood vessel pathways
• Depth and placement
• Skin quality
• Fat pad movement through ageing
• Muscle activity
• Safety zones and danger zones

The face is highly vascular. Certain arteries supply blood flow to areas such as the lips, nose, cheeks and eyes. Incorrect placement of product into a blood vessel can lead to serious complications — which is exactly why advanced anatomical knowledge, correct technique, slow placement and safety protocols matter so much.

✨ Why aspiration can be important:
Aspiration is a safety step some practitioners use before injecting certain areas. This involves gently pulling back on the syringe to check for blood return, helping identify whether the needle may be inside a vessel before product is placed.

However — and this is important — aspiration is not a guarantee of safety on its own. It is only ONE part of a much bigger safety approach that should include:
