Something to think about if you’ve been considering extensions - The Importance of Tidy Sectioning During Your Extension Fitting

• Neat sections prevent matting & tangling by keeping the extensions organised and separated.

• Neat, clean sections ensure the extensions sit correctly and securely.

• Neat sections distribute tension evenly, which helps prevent unnecessary pulling or stress on the natural hair and avoids hair being put under strain causing damage to the natural strands. Your extensions should never be painful.

• Clean placement creates a more seamless, discreet finish, whilst creating better weight distribution reduces strain on individual strands - maintaining the integrity of your own hair underneath the extensions.

• Creates a comfortable wear and makes maintenance, removal & refitting easier by minimising unnecessary tension.

Tape Extension Aftercare🐚🥥☁️✨🌺🐬

• Wait 48 hours before washing after fitting
This allows the adhesive to fully bond and settle, helping the tapes stay secure and preventing them from slipping or lifting.

•Use hair oils and masks on the lengths and ends to keep the hair hydrated, as extensions don’t receive natural oils from our scalp like our natural hair.

• Avoid conditioner on the roots and around the tapes
Conditioner can make the hair and adhesive too slippery, which may cause the tapes to loosen or slip.

• Attend your maintenance appointments every 6–8 weeks
Regular maintenance helps prevent matting, tangling and excessive tension on your natural hair as your extensions grow down. It also keeps your extensions looking discreet, comfortable and secure.

• Sleep with the hair in a loose plait
Plaiting your hair before bed reduces friction and movement while you sleep, helping to prevent tangles, matting and unnecessary stress on the extensions.

• Avoid heat directly on the tapes
High temperatures can weaken the adhesive and may cause the tapes to soften, lift or slip. Keep straighteners, curling tools and direct heat away from the tape bonds.

• Dry on a low heat after washing rather than allowing the hair to air dry
Leaving the hair wet for long periods can encourage tangling, particularly around the roots and tape areas.

• Brush gently from the mid-lengths to the ends
Starting at the ends and working upwards prevents unnecessary pulling on the tapes and reduces breakage and tangling.

• Use a sulphate-free shampoo
Sulphates can be harsh and drying on extension hair and may contribute to the hair becoming dry, brittle and difficult to manage. A gentle, extension-friendly shampoo helps maintain softness and longevity.

• Avoid getting suncream, chlorine and sea water on the tapes
Suncreams that contain the chemical ingredients Avobenzone and Octocrylene cause hair extensions to discolour. When these UV-filtering compounds touch processed hair they trigger an oxidation reaction to blonde or light extensions pink, peach, or orange. Similarly chlorine can discolour and dry out the extensions, whilst salt water can contribute to tangling and matting.
