We are a Hairdressing Training Salon for our students who are studying at UHI NWH - Stornoway.
Welcome to our training salon, which is open to members of the public and offers hairdressing services at a discounted price. We rely on the support of our clients to enable our students to complete assessments and also give them the opportunity to work in a real live working environment. Our last salon day for year 25/26! Wishing all our students a great summer, especially our third year students Kai and Joanne, who have now completed their college training. ✨ Dragons’ Den Challenge – Hair & Beauty Students ✨
Our talented Hair & Beauty students recently took part in an exciting Dragons’ Den-style challenge facilitated by Paddy Docherty, Learning and Development Worker.
The judging panel included UHI North, West and Hebrides staff Angus MacBain, Ewan Armstrong and Elspeth Robertson, who had the difficult task of choosing between some fantastic business ideas and presentations. 👏
💇♀️ Custom Hair Weaves – Daisy and Katie presented plans for three stylish, accessible salons across the island specialising in hair weaves for clients with short or thinning hair.
📱 Product App – Sophia and Honey designed an innovative app to recommend hair products based on hair type, while also modernising salon client records through a digital system.
🚐 Accessory Kits & Mobile Salons – Emma and Faith showcased themed accessory packs for hairdressers and barbers, alongside adaptable mobile salon ideas.
🏆 Huge congratulations to our winners – Sophia and Honey – who received a £20 Amazon voucher kindly donated by Student Services.
Well done to everyone who took part for their creativity, confidence and entrepreneurial spirit! 👏✨
Today we celebrate the women who inspire, support and uplift those around them every day.
