Did you know?

We're seeing increasing interest in Shared Lives as an option for young people leaving foster care and transitioning into adulthood.

Shared Lives can provide continuity, stability and lasting relationships beyond the age of 18, helping young people build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.

We're proud to be working with partners to raise awareness of how Shared Lives can support care-experienced young people to thrive.

We're delighted to share our latest Shared Lives team photo, bringing together our growing team and our fantastic Ambassadors.

As Shared Lives continues to grow across Wolverhampton, Dudley and the wider Black Country, we're investing in the people who support our carers and the individuals we work alongside every day.

With new team members joining us, including one more new recruit, who starts in October, we're excited about the future and the opportunities ahead.

A huge welcome to everyone who has recently joined the team. Together, we're helping people live fulfilling lives through real relationships, community connections and family-based support.

💙 Shared Lives in Action

Recently, one of the people we support enjoyed a successful short respite stay with a Shared Lives family while their regular carer took a well-earned break.

Following careful planning and matching, the arrangement provided a safe, welcoming and supportive home environment, helping the individual maintain their routine, independence and confidence throughout their stay.

The experience was a fantastic success, with everyone involved sharing positive feedback. The individual settled in quickly, enjoyed being part of family life, and felt comfortable and supported from the very beginning.

Our Shared Lives carers described the experience as a pleasure and would be delighted to provide support again in the future.

Stories like this highlight the true value of Shared Lives: thoughtful matching, caring households, and creating opportunities for people to feel welcomed, respected and part of a community💙

What Exactly Is Shared Lives?

Shared Lives is often described as fostering for adults, but it's much more than that.

People are carefully matched with approved Shared Lives Carers who provide support in a family home environment.

Shared Lives Celebration Event 📸

It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate Shared Lives in Wolverhampton and the positive difference it continues to make for adults and young people who need care and support.

Following the recent announcement that Camphill Village Trust will continue delivering the Shared Lives service in Wolverhampton, the event gave us a great opportunity to share information about the service, hear experiences from those involved, and look ahead to the future.

We'd like to thank everyone who played a part in making the day such a success, including Bob Jones Community Hub, City of Wolverhampton Council, our dedicated Shared Lives Carers, Ambassadors, the Shared Lives Team, and, of course, the people we support who are at the heart of everything we do.

The support, partnership and enthusiasm shown throughout the day reflected the strong Shared Lives community we have across Wolverhampton, and we're excited to continue building on that momentum.
