One thing about me? I’ll back passion over perfection every single time…

I scraped through my GCSE’s. Barely passed 4 of them just to get myself into sixth form.

Truthfully? I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was a cheeky little sh*t through my teenage years, and academics just never lit my brain up. My mind was always in textiles, art, fashion, media…creative things. But back then none of that was really taken seriously.

When we were school leavers age, going into hair and beauty was seen as the failure route. Harsh, but true. The kids who didn’t do well academically got pushed towards beauty or childcare while success was measured by degrees, university, nursing, teaching, social work…Now look, it’s one of the fastest growing, successful industries in the world. I fell into it by mistake and haven’t looked back since, it’s absolutely where I was always meant to be.

Now as a mum myself, I can already see how different my children are. One will probably smash straight A’s, revise for fun and give everything 110%.

And then there’s my Daniel, starting SATS this week. Outdoorsy, musical, hilarious, full of personality. So this morning my advice to him was simple “Just do your best mate.”

Because a piece of paper with grades on does NOT define you.

Your dreams do, Your passion does, Your heart does.

Over the last 10 years I’ve trained in treatments I ended up hating, so I never offered them. Because why build a life around something you don’t love? Why do something you can’t give 100% to?

Do what lights YOU up, Don’t obsess over perfection, Progress matters more than being “the best” Listen to your brain, but always follow your heart too.
