Which one do you pick?
A lot of clients ask me what is sports massage, and what’s the difference between sports massage and relaxing massages such as Swedish massage etc.
Sports massage is a very efficient way of releasing tension and soreness in our muscles due to the deep soft tissue work that it involves.
Another important benefit to highlight is that sports massage is capable of achieving long term results as it’s capable of realigning our muscle fibres.
It’s also capable of stimulating your nervous system and promotes blood circulation. This is a very crucial benefit when it comes to helping injured athletes, as most of the time we won’t be able to do any work directly on the injured area due to inflammation/bruising etc. However, treating the muscles surrounding the injured area will prevent any changes in posture, decrease pain and promote blood circulation towards the injured area which will support the healing process.
