Tropic Skincare with Nina

It feels like it’s been a couple of years since I last had a breakout on my face (usually just the nape of my neck and ears) but it certainly seems that temperature changes are a trigger for me and this recent cold snap has got me.

Or maybe my body was just too busy with growing a baby to give me this grief or maybe it’s the new stress of being back at work full time! Who knows, there are so many factors with chronic conditions that it’s unlikely I’ll find a singular ‘fix’.

You might look at this photo and think “it’s not that bad” but our facial skin is such a big part of our physical identity that when it’s not ‘behaving’ it can really knock someone’s confidence. And just because there invariably will always be someone else with something worse than you, doesn’t mean that your feelings are invalidated.

Action plan is to focus on nourishing products and Tamanu for the inflammation so I’m hopefully not looking like Krusty the Krab for too long

The photos are 3 weeks apart and I can already see he’s growing 🥹 the Tropic baby snood is made from the same bamboo as their face cloths so are super soft. I use it to dry him off before he hangs out in a personalised robe we were given which is one of those “He’ll grow into it” kind of vibe 😂

I mainly focus on facial skincare on this page (because it’s the thing we all look at and pay attention to in the mirror and it’s also more exposed to the elements!)

But this 👆 product has now made it into my regular body care routine. For anyone who gets waxed ingrown hairs can be a bit of a pain, especially if you’re not wearing loose fitting clothes all the time you might be more prone to them.

Rather than going to town with a scrub in your intimate areas 👀 this product uses papaya enzymes and glycolic acid to gently dissolve dead skin and help release trapped hairs. So I just use a small amount every couple of days after showering to keep on top of it.

Try doing your evening routine as soon as you come in from work. With the central heating probably being on more frequently the humidity in the air isn’t going to be as high. By bringing your evening routine forward and using nourishing ingredients you will prevent excess Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL).

Also it might just be me but I feel so tired by the time I’m heading to bed if I’ve already ticked off my skincare I can get in my bed with my hot water bottle sooner 😅

Show me the life hack you randomly saw one day which is now an unconscious standard practice in your life: I’ll go first.

I actually learned this tip from a YouTube video and I saw it backed up by - if your goal is glowing skin but not to look shiny, use powder (here I used Warm Beige mineral foundation but you can also use Soft Focus powder) on the middle of your face leaving the overall look to look healthy and dewy and like real (slightly airbrushed) skin.
