…the skin needs time to recover and “retrain”.

The skin around the nail (proximal nail fold/eponychium) is living tissue that protects the nail from bacteria and irritation. Repeated biting, picking, over-cutting, dryness, or long gaps between appointments can leave the area inflamed, thickened, uneven, or difficult to work with.

With regular professional maintenance, hydration, and correct aftercare, the skin gradually becomes softer, healthier, and easier to manicure cleanly ✨

This is why consistency matters.

Recommended maintenance:
🩷 Nail biters / severe skin picking: every 2 weeks
🩷 Most structured manicure clients: every 3 weeks

Daily cuticle oil also makes a huge difference between appointments.

A little note for all new clients & future bookings

As Trulyou is a private home-based studio, I just wanted to mention that I do have pets at home 🐾

There’s a friendly family dog along with cats/kittens within the home environment, although they are kept separate from the treatment area during appointments 😊

The beauty room is always cleaned, sanitised and prepared professionally for every client, however I know allergies or pet sensitivities can sometimes be important when choosing where to book.

To be honest… most clients end up asking where the animals are anyway 😂🩷

A new direction for Trulyou 🩷

Over time, I’ve learnt what truly works — not just for me, but for my clients.
Moving forward, my focus will be on
nail health (as always!!) , structure, and a clean, refined aesthetic.

This means:
• A stronger focus on natural, well-structured nails
• A more minimal, sophisticated finish
• A smaller, carefully selected colour range (only the ones you actually love and wear)
• Nail art will be simplified and revised to reflect what clients genuinely ask for!

From mid-May, I’ll also be updating my extension methods — moving away from full cover tips and working with techniques that better support the natural nail long term.
During your appointments, any repairs or fixes will also be done using this new approach.

This shift is all about quality, consistency, and long-lasting results.
