When you’re treating such a beautiful face with so much life and character, the last thing you want to do is take any of that away.

She wanted to look fresher and a little softer, while still looking completely like herself. We looked at her face as a whole, restored support where it had been lost, softened where it was needed and, just importantly, knew what to leave alone.

I’m so pleased with her result. You can see the difference, but you still see her first. Her warmth, her expression and all that wonderful character are still there, just fresher and beautifully restored.

Today is my birthday, and I’m entering this year with a much clearer sense of what truly matters.

This past year has reminded me that health should never be taken for granted and that caring for it is the most important investment we can make. It has also taught me to trust myself, accept support, hold onto my values and keep the right people close.

I feel incredibly grateful for my family, my friends, my team, my patients and the work I am still so passionate about.

I don’t know exactly what the next year will bring, but I’m looking forward to finding out.

Anyone who knows Gemma knows how much she genuinely cares about her patients and the standard of her work. She is thoughtful, knowledgeable and such an important part of our clinic team. Beyond work, she is also someone I trust and value very much, and I feel incredibly lucky to have her beside me at the clinic.

Beautiful Greece… such a special place to properly switch off.

Sailing around the islands, exploring beautiful little towns, long walks, good food and spending time with family and friends. Sometimes you don’t realise how much you needed to slow down until you actually do.

I love being busy in the clinic and I love what I do, but it’s been so nice to step away from the usual pace for a little while and just enjoy where we are and who we’re with.

Still a few more days of this, then back feeling well rested, refreshed and with lots of new ideas.

I read this card yesterday and it genuinely got me.
This beautiful patient travels a long way to come and see me. She originally came for help following Bell’s palsy, something that had affected not only the way her face moved, but understandably how she felt in herself. During our appointments, our conversations went much further than her treatment. She spoke to me about her daughter, who had struggled with a long-standing health problem for years. We talked about health, lifestyle and looking beyond simply managing symptoms. To hear now that her daughter is doing so much better and stopped taking her long term medications means more to me than I can really put into words.

And then she arrived with these flowers and this card.

We all talk a lot in this industry about awards, recognition, titles and achievements. Of course I’m proud of those things.

But this?
Someone choosing to travel miles because they trust you.
A patient telling you that you have made a difference to their life. Knowing that something you said or did may have helped their family too. That is the part nobody really sees.
And for me, it means more than any trophy ever could.
