Here’s Caroline an original faithful client of mine who has been coming to me for around 15 plus years!

As hairstylists it’s only natural for us to be posting content that has just taken us 3 to 4 hours to create as it shows huge transformations and obviously we are going to be posting it.

However sometimes the original clients who have been a critical part of our growth get left off our socials because she’s only had a root colour and a trim.

Well not today! I couldnt be any more grateful of Caroline’s loyalty so here she is on my grid taking a place that she absolutely deserves to be on.

No crazy transformation to show, just a root touch up and trim and blowdry, which she has been having every 8 weeks for the last 15 years with me sometimes the occasional few copper foils every few appointments.

I have numerous clients like Caroline in my column and i appreciate every single one you !

Reality of box dye!

Firstly I will never judge anyone for using box dyes.
It’s not the end of the world but here’s a little information as to why it’s not great going forward if you plan on lightening your hair again.

Box dye does not generally fade out, it can fade slightly but ultimately the only way to remove it is to either cut it out completey or colour remove / strip / bleach it out.

In the example photo below it shows where my client had grown out her box dye for over 6 months, whilst lightening you can see the uneven results when lifting.

Section 1 ) being where the hair is virgin hair no colour has been applied other than lift from my lightening. It’s lifted out clean perfect raw lift.

Section 2 ) Ok now we’re at the point of where the box dye has grown out too, even when using a higher developer for maximum lift it still lifts out warm.

Section 3 ) the ends, they have lifted more yellow but better lift than where the box dye banding was.

This client had to sway more towards warmer tones so we could even out the lift. We spoke about all this during our consultation before hand and she was fully happy to go ahead with that potentially being the outcome.

I must admit as a stylist I feel the cutting of hair can sometimes be very much overlooked as the trends for 2026 and the last year have been massive with colour.

Over the last few months I’ve really fell in love with cutting and styling again.

Today I had the pleasure of a new client who was in for a cut & blowdry only, I forgot to take before photos but her hair was all one length, she requested lots of choppy layers and a big bouncy blowout !

These were the results 😍

just love getting this client back in my chair her hair is to die for 😍

It’s been 6 months since I last saw her which is exactly how we want it when we do lived in hair colours.

We aim for twice a year with this particular client, today we lifted some of that blonde back up but kept her natural depth at the roots and we like to keep some natural depth running through the mids for that extra touch of dimension.

And again she left with the most gorgeous lived in look, love it!
