π DRY CUPPING vs SPORTS MASSAGE πββοΈ
Different techniques. Different mechanical effects. But both can have a place in soft tissue therapy.
π΅ Dry Cupping
Uses negative pressure (suction) to gently lift the skin and superficial tissues.
It may help with short-term pain relief, relaxation and improving comfort with movement.
π Sports Massage
Uses hands-on techniques to apply pressure, compress and mobilise soft tissues.
It can help relieve muscular tension, reduce discomfort and support recovery following physical activity.
π So, which is better?
Neither is automatically better than the other!
The most appropriate approach depends on your individual needs, treatment goals and assessment findings.
At CDOTC Sports Massage, dry cupping can be incorporated alongside sports massage where appropriate.
β¨ Different techniques. One goal β helping you move and feel better.

The CDOTC leaflets are out and about! π
Iβve been dropping some into local businesses around Pembroke and the surrounding area to help spread the word about CDOTC Sports Massage.
If you work somewhere that would be happy to have a few leaflets, or have a staff/community noticeboard where I could pop one up, please give me a shout. Iβd be very grateful! π
And a big thank you to the local businesses helping a small independent business get its name out there. π

Same logo. Different colours. Different meanings. πππ
You might start to notice two versions of the CDOTC logo appearingβ¦
ππ Yellow & blue β Clinic colours
The original CDOTC colours you'll see around the clinic and on my usual business materials.
π Purple β Event colours
The version you'll see when CDOTC heads out of the clinic and gets involved with sporting events.
Same therapist. Same sports massage. Same CDOTC β just a different kit depending on where you find me!

From one side of the massage couch to the other! πββοΈπββοΈ
One week after spending a very long day providing post-event massage to finishers at Ironman Wales, this Sunday it was my turn to put the running shoes on for the Swansea Bay 10K.
The calves weren't entirely convinced this was a good idea π, but 10K completed, finish line crossed and another medal earned!
Naturally, I also had to visit the post-event massage tent afterwards β partly for the legs and partly because it's always useful as a therapist to experience things from the other side of the couch.
Events like this are a great reminder that recovery is part of training too. Whether it's a 5K, 10K or something considerably bigger, those legs have still done the work.
For me, it's now a few days of recovery before deciding what challenge comes next... although knowing me, it probably won't be long. π

πββοΈπ΄ββοΈπββοΈ What an experience β IRONMAN Wales 2026! β€οΈ
Yesterday I had the privilege of volunteering as part of the recovery team at IRONMAN Wales in Tenby, providing post-event sports massage to athletes after one of the toughest days of their lives.
My first athlete was on the couch at 4:41pmβ¦ and I finished with my 17th just after midnight! πββοΈ
17 IRONMAN finishers.
17 very tired bodies.
And a LOT of effleurage. π
As a newly qualified sports massage therapist, this was my first experience of working at a major sporting event β and what a way to start.
I treated athletes of different ages, backgrounds and experience levels, and I've since discovered that three of my first four athletes were actually racing in the professional field. I had absolutely no idea at the time! π³
One athlete even asked whether I did a lot of event work and was genuinely surprised when I told them this was my first one and that I'd only recently qualified. Apparently I looked like I'd been doing it for years β I'll happily take that! π
A huge thank you to every athlete who trusted me with their recovery, and to everyone involved in the recovery area.
I went to Tenby hoping to gain some experience.
I came home absolutely exhausted, aching in places I didn't know could acheβ¦ but with 17 treatments under my belt, a huge amount of experience gained and absolutely no doubt that I'd happily do it all again. β€οΈ
Congratulations to every single IRONMAN Wales finisher. What an achievement. π
