Montgomery expands Cat fleet

Caterpillar equipment now makes up 80% of the fleet at Ayrshire hirer KT Montgomery following an £8m investment in new machines.

Based in Kilmarnock and with depots in Galston, Irvine and Muir of Ord, Montgomery has been Finning's largest Scotland-based customer for five consecutive years and the latest investment sees the company gear up for major earthworks, roads, quarrying and energy infrastructure contracts.

Owner Keith Montgomery said: “With several highway projects moving forward and major electricity transmission projects planned across the north of Scotland, there is a clear pipeline of work ahead. We have also gone much further on specification.”

The deal with suppliers Finning UK & Ireland includes next-generation excavators, dozers and soil compactors alongside technology such as full Trimble Earthworks machine control, Cat E-Fence and 360-degree cameras.
