Road closure this weekend again. 💜

👷‍♂️Over the weekend we successfully removed the old bridge joint on the westbound carriageway of the A14 Nene Viaduct near Thrapston and laid the foundations for temporary bridging plates.

These hinged plates (pictured) allow us to keep the A14 open in the day. They are raised overnight to allow us to carry out the work needed before we can install the new joint but lowered in the day so vehicles can safely drive over the excavated area.

We’ll be returning to install the plates this weekend.

To work safely we’ll need a full weekend closure of the westbound carriageway between junctions 13 and 12 from 8pm on Friday 30 January to 6am on Monday 2 February. Lane 2 of the eastbound carriageway will also be closed.

Please follow signed diversions via the A45 and A6 to rejoin the A14 at junction 10 to avoid weight limits in local communities, including Thrapston, and allow extra time for your journeys.

🔥 WARMTH WITHOUT WORRY 2025 🔥

Once again, I came downstairs to open up the pub and it really hit me — winter’s definitely on its way. The pub was freezing, the rain’s been coming down consistently sideways, and I remembered what i heard last year:

> “It’s cheaper to come here for a couple of pints where it’s warm than it is to put the heating on at home.”

It’s sad, but it’s true. With prices still sky-high and so many people feeling the pinch, no one should have to choose between being warm and being comfortable.

So just like last year — our doors at The Fox are open 7 days a week. 🦊

We’ve got a lovely warm, dry pub with heating throughout, plenty of space, and friendly faces. We want to be more than just a pub — we want to be a community hub, a place where you can sit, chat, and feel at home.

You don’t have to buy a pint — bring a flask, a cuppa, your lunch, whatever makes you feel at ease. It’s about being together and keeping warm without the worry.

📣IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT📣 Due to the bad weather that is forecast on Saturday, we have taken the decision to postpone the Farmers market. We're sorry to have to do it, especially as it is the Christmas market. However, we have to make sure that customers, stallholders and their produce are kept safe and feel it is the best decision in these circumstances.
📣 The good news is, we are going to run the market the following Saturday 14th December, for the stallholders who are able to attend. We will post more details over the coming days 📣
