LETS TALK ABOUT BRUISING- referred to as Haematoma. When you get lip fillers, the practitioner is effectively creating micro injuries in your lips and therefore bruising, swelling and lumpiness are common contra-effects just like with most normal injuries! When you get your treatment done, a good practitioner will always go through after care with you (I go through it twice, once during the treatment and then the second time afterwards, just to make sure the information has been understood!) and a large part of the information mentioned during aftercare involves BRUISING, SWELLING and LUMPS. You are advised that this is a normal part of the lip healing process and you should be ready to go through this for 14 days. Some people do not get bruising, and some get really dark bruising, it all depends on the person. Bruising, swelling and lumpiness does not mean the practitioner has done anything wrong, it is simply a natural process the body goes through to heal the lips! Bruising may also darken as days progress especially around the area where injections took place and this is normal too. It is important to be aware of this before commencing any lip treatment and be prepared for the contra-effects instead of getting worried and anxious when they do happen. You must also be prepared for your practitioner to be able to visit you and if that is not possible then you must listen to the advice and support your practitioner gives you. A good practitioner is supportive and reassuring with their clients, but it is important to be ready for the contra-effects that most definitely WILL occur after you have had lip filler. If you feel like you are a very worrisome and anxious person, my advice is do plenty of reading and research about lip fillers and then make your decision.
