AUTUMN DANGERS
As we move fully in to Autumn now we thought we’d just give you a heads up on the seasonal dangers for our dachshunds.

Acorns - contain a toxin which can cause vomiting and diarrhoea so watch out when walking under those oak trees!
Mushrooms- as a general rule if it’s toxic to us it’s toxic to dogs when it comes to mushrooms and mushroom 🍄 poisoning is not unusual in dogs. Symptoms can vary and it can lead to liver and kidney failure. Consult your vet if you are worried
Conkers - can cause intestinal blockage so make sure your dog doesn’t eat them!
Anti freeze- also known as glycol is a sweet liquid that your dachshund might like to
lick! Do not let them sniff or lick around in car parks, garages, boat docks or drives, anywhere where anti freeze might be found. Symptoms include vomiting, excessive thirst and unsteadiness and effect can be fatal. Visit your vet immediately if you suspect your dog has come into contact
Darker evenings and mornings - use reflectors and lights on you and your dog and check that they still work!
