Will I bruise? 💉

Bruising is a perfectly normal possibility with any injectable treatment. Our faces contain an extensive network of blood vessels, and even with careful technique, a needle can occasionally catch one and cause a little bleeding beneath the skin.

Some people bruise more easily than others, and certain areas—particularly the lips and around the mouth—can be more prone to it.

To help minimise bruising:

✨ Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment
✨ Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat for 24 hours afterwards
✨ Don’t rub or press the treated area unless advised
✨ Tell me about all medication and supplements you take

Please never stop prescribed blood-thinning medication without speaking to the clinician who prescribed it.

Most bruising is mild and settles naturally over the following days. However, severe or increasing pain, pale or mottled skin, unusual coolness, or any visual disturbance following filler requires immediate medical assessment.

Bruising can’t always be prevented—but careful assessment, good anatomical knowledge and safe injecting techniques all help to reduce the risk. 🤍
