The Floating Room
The ultimate therapeutic experience: All the benefits of a deep tissue massage, a deep meditation an What is float therapy?
Here at The Floating Room we are exited to bring float therapy to Cornwall. This therapy is gaining popularity world wide due to its remarkable benefits. We use a float room (which is larger than a tank and much better for anyone who is worried about claustrophobia) to deliver the ultimate relaxation experience. The science is fairly simple: The tank contains 6-12 inches of sterile of water warmed

WITHDRAWAL
In the period immediately after quitting a habit, floating can alleviate some on the pain and instead allow you to feel pleasure.
The science behind this is that floating reduces anxiety related biochemicals such as norepinephrine which are released in large quantities during withdrawal.
If you feel that this therapy could help you please do get in touch.

❤️ CHANGE ❤️
It’s really not as easy as we think is it 🤔
Did you know that when you’re in the float tank, you are are in a state where you are much more open to unfreezing, changing and refreshing belief structures., de-automatisation and hyper suggest-ability.
Numerous studies show what an exceptional tool the float tank is to bring about transformation of attitude and action. Even for people who have not been receptive to other techniques like self hypnosis.
Suggestions given to someone in the deeply relaxed state of floating are accepted by the subconscious mind and retain their power for weeks, months, even years. (Studies by Suedfield show a continuing effect more than two years after a single session!)
So maybe next time you’re in the tank you could try offering yourself positive suggestions and see where it takes you…

The story behind how I’ve ended up cranio sacral therapy training is an interesting one that I’ll save for another day.
But to say that following this intuitive nudge was 💯 the right thing to do.
It has been the most amazing 5 days boh in terms of my own growth and unfolding and as a practitioner.
The power of this work is truly incredible.
It’s a 2 year course so I won’t be offering sessions any time soon but I’m the meantime I’m just so passionate about it, I can’t help but tell you all 🙌❤️

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR ME TO PRACTICE CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY ON 🙏
Yep, I’ve just started a 2 year training with to learn the magic 🪄 that is biodynamic cranio sacral therapy (more on this to follow I’m sure 😍)
I need a pool of volunteers to practice on. I hope to create a what’s app group and offer practice appointments mainly on Thursday mornings but may also be some other days. They will start as 20-30 min sessions and grow slowly into 50-60 min sessions. Obviously you don’t pay 😊 There are a couple of exclusions (please read below) but if you or anyone you know is interested please PM me ❤️❤️❤️
➡️ WHAT IS CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY?
It is a gentle therapy where you lie on a massage table, fully clothed and I use very gentle touch to listen to your bodies natural rhythms. In this safe place of presence, your body can initiate its own innate healing capabilities.
➡️ CAN I VOLUNTEER?
Although this therapy is suitable (and beneficial) for almost every one, as I am still a student so I cannot accept volunteers with significant physical or mental health issues which are currently not well controlled (if you’re not sure, pls ask.)
I also cannot accept anyone who is or has been a massage client of mine (sorry!)
And you must be willing to travel to me at The Floating Room near Carnon Downs.
Please do share this with anyone you know who may be interested 🙏❤️🙏

I have uploaded onto the blog the findings of a study from 2018 (link to original study also on there) which focused on 4 main questions around the float experience. Below I’ll share the answers.she got to those questions. Whether you’re new to floating or a regular, I hope you find them useful ❤️
💦What made you try floating?
Most of the participants saw it as an escape from life and general curiosity.
💦What did you expect from floating?
Interestingly, a lot of the participants mentioned that they were cautious about their first float; worried that they may have a psychological event for which they were not prepared (NB – this didn’t happen lol.) And that this initial caution prevented them from completely relaxing on their first session (I strongly agree with this – you need more than one session to really “get into” it.)
💦What was it like to float?
The participants described floating as a meditative state in which they were the most relaxed they had ever been. It was a process during which they were able to watch their thoughts slow down and were able to observe them and gain more clarity. They weren’t unable to fully explain the experience – as if their awareness was somewhere between being in dream, sleep or indeed something else; although the state was predominantly conscious. They commented on the sensation of losing their body and this happened naturally and required no effort at all. They felt like they “got a break from the stressors of life.”
💦Now that you have floated, what do you think about it?
Benefits that participants noted were: That they were more able to be in the present moment, that they were less reactive to circumstance and that they had more energy throughout the week. There was also a unique aspect to floating; that this state could not be achieved through anything else.

Did you know…
The place in the brain where external events which can create anxiety such as divorce or an airplane flight are translated into to physiological, internal event is through the hypothalamus and pituitary.
And guess what, it is exactly that part of the brain which is directly influenced by the experience and sensation of floating in a

I often get asked if 2 people can float at the same time…
The answer here at The Floating Room I’m afraid is no.
Whilst it is possible to find tanks big enough to fit 2 people in, no where locally offers this.
BUT WHAT I DO RECOMMEND…
You can book 2 consecutive appointments and I have a warm and comfortable wait room (just refreshed the book selection as per picture 😊.)
Or even better, upgrade to a massage and float - that way one of you can float whilst the other has a massage, then swap… this ALWAYS goes down well.
Give us a like if you’ve done the massage and float and LURVED it ❤️

As we reach the 1k mark I thought this would be a good time share a little more about this small business, past present and future…
🕰 when I first had the idea to bring float therapy to Cornwall, I had, myself been floating for over 10 years. Although it took a few sessions for me to get into it, I had fallen in love and after having the thought “well if I could do this every day I would probably be enlightened by the end of the year” after a float well… I just had to open my own float room (purely to feed my own habit 😂.)
💡 After the initial thought, it took several years of seriously hard work to get it all up and running and a good slice of good luck to find this beautiful spot but 8 years later here I am still going strong.
For those of you who don’t know, this enterprise is pretty much a one woman gig and I am over joyed that despite an epidemic, a broken float tank and a major shift in life circumstances, 8 years later I’m still here doing what I consider the best job in the world.
🚀 I have no idea what the future holds and I’m sure there will be competition. But I truly love and believe in this humble business.
And as I shift, change and grow, I hope I can bring new offerings to what I do… watch this space for an exciting new chapter for me starting soon.
All that’s left to say is THANK YOU 🙏. to each and everyone of you that has kept this pls e afloat (sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
