Over the last few days I’ve been chatting to a few lovely ladies who’ve said something along the lines of…

“I’m a bit scared to change my skincare because whenever I do, I come out in spots!” 😬

And do you know what? I totally get it! 🙋‍♀️

But here’s something you might not know… sometimes when you introduce your skin to new skincare, you can experience what we call PURGING.

So what actually is skin purging? 🤔

Basically, certain skincare ingredients can speed up the natural renewal of your skin cells. This can bring blockages that were already lurking underneath the surface up and out a little quicker than they normally would.

So you might suddenly notice a few more spots, bumps or little blemishes and think…

“Oh brilliant… this skincare clearly doesn’t like me!” 😂

But actually, it can sometimes be your skin clearing out what was already there rather than the product causing new problems.

💚 Purging is usually temporary and tends to happen in areas where you normally experience breakouts.

That said… and this is important 👇

Not every breakout is purging! If your skin is burning, itching, very sore, swollen or reacting in places you don’t normally break out, that could be irritation rather than purging — and that’s something we definitely shouldn’t just “push through”.

This is exactly why I’m a big believer in changing your skincare gradually and getting the right advice for YOUR skin rather than throwing five new products at it all at once! 😂

I saw this on another post this morning which got me thinking 🤔 I know scary stuff 😂

How many things have changed for all of us ladies that have used some of these items? Things that when we used we thought it couldn’t get any better?

Thankfully that’s the same with our skin care ☺️
No more do we have to endure stingy toners after cleansing in what felt like gloop out of one of W***y Wonkas movie sets to then finish with the thickest moisturiser if all.
