A lovely client who knew her hair wasn’t right, both colour and cut were problematic. It didn’t sit well and styling was a challenge.

I often see this with new clients, it’s not always clear until you’re working with the hair daily.

My approach involves blowdrying smooth first for precision. This way, I can see the natural movement, weight distribution, and what needs trimming, and it makes all the difference!

The outcome is a cleaner cut, sharper lines, and a style that lasts longer.

Spring hair trend alert 🌸

Hair contouring is having a moment and it’s set to be the go-to look this spring. Think of it as the softer, more subtle cousin of balayage.

Instead of colouring the whole head, hair contouring focuses on just a few carefully placed lighter pieces around the face. The idea is to catch the light in all the right places, brighten the complexion and soften features — a bit like contouring with makeup, but through hair.

It gives a fresher, more rested look while still feeling really natural and low maintenance. No harsh lines, no heavy colour, just gentle light where you need it most.

With the colder weather and snow around this week, we kindly ask everyone to please be mindful of appointment times and allow a little extra travel time where possible.

If you feel you may need to rearrange your appointment, we’d really appreciate as much notice as possible. We do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, which sadly we do have to stick to, especially during busy periods.

We’d also gently ask that if you’re feeling unwell, please contact us before coming into the salon, to help keep our team and other clients well.

A little reminder that Wakefield Council car parks now offer 2 hours of free parking, including the one many of you use on St. John’s North when visiting the salon.

A small act with a big message: every child deserves a safe, warm place to sleep.

🎄 Our Christmas Appeal 🎄

This year, we’re support Zarach a charity dedicated to ending child bed poverty. They provide children with proper beds, bedding, and pyjamas so they can sleep safely and thrive at school—rather than on sofas, floors, or sharing beds due to financial hardship.

Since 2017, Zarach has delivered over 10,000 bed bundles, each including a bed frame, mattress, pillows, bedding, and pyjamas, helping children wake up safe, comfortable, and ready to face the day.

If you’d like to support our appeal, please bring a wrapped pair of pyjamas to either salon, labelled with the child’s age and s*x.

Your kindness will make a real difference this Christmas ❤️
