Dark spots, melasma, sun damage and post-acne marks are among the most common skin concerns we see at CNUK. Here’s what the evidence says:
✨ UV is the number 1 trigger. No treatment works without daily broad-spectrum SPF.
✨ Start with cosmeceuticals. They have the best evidence and the least side effects.
✨ 4-n-butylresorcinol (4NB) is increasingly the go-to tyrosinase inhibitor. It’s potent, well tolerated and safe for long-term use.
✨ Hydroquinone works but it can’t be used long term.
✨ Add vitamin A (retinal), niacinamide and vitamin C to hit pigmentation from every angle.
✨ *mLasers, peels and microneedling are second- or third-line options, not the starting point, especially on deeper skin tones.

We’ve all fallen victim to trending skincare and misinformation.
Before: compromised skin barrier, active acne, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation the result of layering viral “holy grail” products with prescription Tretinoin and no clinical guidance on how to actually use it.
After: restored, calm, functioning skin.
Let’s be clear Tretinoin works. But it’s a prescription-strength retinoid for a reason. Used without the right concentration, frequency or barrier support (especially in deeper skin tones prone to PIH), it can do more harm than good. TikTok skincare trends rarely mention buffering, moisturising, ceramide levels, SPF compliance or how long true barrier repair actually takes.
This isn’t about chasing “glass skin” overnight. It’s about restoring skin health, barrier function, pigmentation and tolerance in a proper, safe and sustainable way.

I built this clinic on one idea: that everyone deserves to find a specialist who truly sees their skin. This month a year after opening my own clinic space that idea won an award.
