Marc attended his appointment this week complaining of neck and shoulder tension which had started to cause him pain and affect his training in the gym.

Neck and shoulder pain can be frustrating to suffer with and usually lead to tension headaches, however many people don't know where to turn for treatment.

Marc's treatment started on the chest, this area is often over looked but is usually the route cause of neck and shoulder tension (especially with people who work at a desk) as tight chest muscles round the shoulders which then affects the back and neck muscles leading to pain/discomfort.

We finished with the shoulders and neck, stretching out and relieving the muscles and tendons.

This treatment also helps to prevent bad posture or the "hunch" of the back and shoulders.

We are based in Wakefield, just out of town centre.
Please message our page for enquiries as comments can be missed due to our workload!

Monday morning feedback from two clients that I had in last week in preparation for the Yorkshire Marathon πŸƒ

Sports Massage Therapy should be included as part of your training schedule when you have an event booked to give you the best results on the day.
Regular massages keeps muscles loose while youre upping the miles which in turn prevents muscular injury.

I would recommend hip and calf treatments to everyone who is running long distance as these tend to be most prone to injury.

A strong, reinforced hand for deeper pressure..
It's the only thing that works quickly on muscle tension!

Sarah booked in last week with bad lower back pain. She has been in for her follow up treatment today and has had fantastic improvement. Her pain has gone and she is moving alot better 😁

Lower back pain is one of the most common areas that I treat, 7 out of 11 clients today had lower back issues and left feeling much better!

Back issues can be caused by a whole range of things, with Sarah it was due to tight glutes. Pain can radiate down the front or the back of the legs and can even be felt in the calf in some cases.

I would recommend getting your back pain treated as soon as you start to feel the tension/stiffness, the sooner the appointment the quicker the recovery and less pain during treatment.
In most cases, when people try to "power through" it can lead to a muscle spasm, this is the point where the pain is almost unbearable and people usually think they need a doctor, however this is not the correct. Sports Massage Therapy will get you back up and moving again in no time.

My first appointment of the week today was Oliver.
Oliver has an hour's "maintenance" treatment every other week.

There are many benefits of a Maintenance Massage, one of the most important being injury prevention! Regular treatment ensures the muscles stay consistently healthy by being stretched/loosened and waste removed, this also leads to a higher level of endurance and increased mobility.

Although I can't guarantee that you will end up with a bod like Oliver, Sports Massage Therapy encourages muscle growth by removing waste from the muscle and increasing blood flow...meaning bigger results in the gym πŸ’ͺ

Mark "Speaky" clinging on to the table for dear life πŸ˜†
Over the last 3 weeks (30 mins per week) I have been working on his IT band, hamstrings and hips due to reoccurring pain when running. He has tried different therapies but you can't beat a good old Sports Massage. He has significantly improved and is now running pain free!

We still have a little way to go but with his weekly appointments he'll be training and running without the worry of pain and/or injury.

Mel has been in for her bi-weekly treatment! We alternate areas each session, this time was Quads and Hamstrings! Next time it will probably be shoulders, neck and back.

Mel trains most days at a high intensity level. Regular treatments prevent injury (therefore preventing missed gym sessions), improves performance and encourages correct movement/posture during each movement at the gym and in classes.

I can confidently say that she does not enjoy her treatments while they're happening, but she does see and feel the benefits of her Sports Massage which makes it all worth while. Plus we do have a good laugh πŸ˜†
