Breast Cancer Awareness Month is incredibly close to our hearts. 🎀

Breast cancer is the cancer we see more than any other at Hair to Ware, and over the years we have had the privilege of meeting and supporting so many remarkable women through one of the hardest times in their lives.

We have listened to their stories, heard about their diagnoses, treatments, fears, families, good days and difficult days. So many of these ladies have stayed with us long after they have left the salon.

Hair loss may only be one part of a cancer journey, but we know how deeply personal our hair is and how much confidence and identity can be tied up in it. Being able to help someone look in the mirror and feel a little more like themselves again is something we never take for granted.

To every woman who has trusted us to support you through your breast cancer journey - thank you.

You inspire us more than you will ever know.

And to anyone currently facing a breast cancer diagnosis or going through treatment, please know that you do not have to navigate the hair loss side of it alone. We are here to support you with kindness, understanding and absolutely no judgement x

Our focus post is a weekly opportunity to share ways in which our service supports patients, their carers and family members with non-clinical concerns. Highlighting organisations and charities we work with here at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We are the point of contact for information, support and assistance - Visible around the hospital and contactable to discuss issues with the opportunity to complete a Holistic Needs Assessment.

We have a no appointment necessary, safe and non-judgemental space for anyone affected by cancer to come for here and now support at our Information Pod. Whilst holding mobile pod slots in additional areas around the hospital.

Today we will focus on information and support available to help with body image and hair loss concerns. These include:

Body Image

We can signpost you to Look Good Feel Better who have online tutorials and workshops you can book and attend in person

Hair Loss

We can discuss a wig referral with you so you can either attend the salon at Hair To Ware or have a fitting on site in the Info Pod.

We can discuss other options and you can take a look at head coverings that are funded by Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust - help make your hospitals even better with our advisors in the Info Pod.
