Thinking about lip filler? 💋

Everyone talks about the risks, and they absolutely should!

A good practitioner will explain things like swelling, bruising, lumps during healing, and the very small but serious risk of vascular occlusion.

But here's the bit that doesn't get talked about enough...

You might hate your lips before you love them. 🙈

Honestly, I've had my lips done three times, and every single time I've looked in the mirror the next day and thought, "What have I done?" (even though I trust my practitioner with my life!) 😂

Day 1 is usually when swelling is at its peak - although, not to blow my own trumpet, most of my clients barely bruise and their swelling is usually really minimal.

By around day 3, things start settling, but your lips can still feel a little lumpy and tender while the filler integrates.

By day 5... this is where the magic starts. ✨ You'll probably be obsessed with them.

Then, by day 14, you'll see your true healed result. That's when you'll come back to see me so I can make sure everything has settled beautifully... and there's a very good chance you'll already be saying, "Can we add just a tiny bit more next time?"

Does anyone else have a scabby little chicken living in their head, just pecking away all day, every day... or is it just me? 🐔😂

Before anyone gets it twisted... that scabby little chicken is mine. It isn't fuelled by the opinions of random people who have no place in my life. It's just my own brain doing what it does best. 🤯

Being neurodivergent is wild.

One minute you're being told you're organised, passionate and reliable. The next you're "controlling" because you like a plan, "difficult" because you ask questions, or "fake" because you mask.

Maybe because I'm relentlessly positive.
Maybe because I'm giving myself pep talks all day, every day just to keep moving forward.
Maybe because I don't say every negative thought that pops into my head out loud.

Somehow that can give the impression that the positive version of me isn't real.

But trust me... I wouldn't have the energy to be fake.

I barely have enough energy to keep up with the real version of me.

The thing is... being neurodivergent often feels like being a walking contradiction. You can desperately crave routine but get bored by it. Want company but need to be alone. Overthink absolutely everything while somehow forgetting why you walked into the kitchen.

And here's the bit people don't see...

About 90% of the criticism you could throw at me has already been thrown at me...

By me.

It just doesn't come out of my mouth.

So when someone points out the very things I'm already battling with, it doesn't make me realise something new. It just gives that scabby little chicken another reason to keep pecking.

A little understanding goes a long way. Most neurodivergent people aren't trying to be awkward, controlling or "too much"... we're just trying to navigate a world that wasn't built for brains like ours.

So if someone seems a bit different, maybe choose curiosity over criticism.

You never know how hard they're already being on themselves. 🩷
