If you’re still using a face wipe because it’s quick, cheap or you don’t wear makeup anyway, this is what I’d swap it for.

First cleanse: use an oil-based or balm cleanser. This is the step that removes makeup, SPF and the dirt from the day.

And no, I don’t think you need to spend a fortune on it. I’ve used Temple Spa In The Beginning, but there are cheaper balm cleansers around too.

Second cleanse: this is where I’d be more particular. I’d choose a cleanser for what your skin actually needs.

For someone dealing with oily and dry areas or hormonal breakouts, I often reach for Temple Spa Dual Act.

For someone wanting something fresh that suits a lot of skin types and helps brighten the skin, I’d look at Easy Glowing.

For me, cleansing is the most important step to get right. If I was only going to get one part of a routine sorted first, it would be the double cleanse, so everything you use afterwards is going onto properly cleansed skin.

Bin the wipes. You need two cleanses, not one.
