Character ageing make up done a couple of years ago for a show called Black cake. Don’t think the very small scene ended up in the show but still a super fun make up to do with on the delightfully energetic simon wan. Hair was done by co make up designer Renata Gilbert.

This make up is from Wonder women. This was the disfigured damage that was under Dr poisons face mask. This was only to be revealed once in the movie. Fun times.

Old character test make up on Martin Freeman for Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nymans Movie Ghost Stories back in 2016. Loved this film project. Lots of fun with the team making lots of creatures and gags.
I sculpted this and applied with Michael Byrne.

This popped up today in my photos on my phone, this was from the Nevers season 2. Make up of the shock-troopers pre vfx negative space removal.

This was a fun project with lots of cool characters going on.
Make up took around two hours. I was prosthetics designer on the show and even though the Nevers wasn’t a particularly successful show I loved the stuff we made for it, the crew I had was great and I loved working with Chrissie Blundell and her team.

In April 2023 we were asked to create and design Hellboy and all the practical effects. Although we knew it was a very small budget and a very short build time we couldn’t pass up the opportunity. What was already a short build became shorter due to production constraints and my team pulled out all the stops to turn it all around. Great team effort on this. The Director Brian Taylor was so passionate that it made us all want to give everything to the project. Everything was built in house here at KM effects and then My onset crew worked with a bunch of locals to get the applications done. Kudos to who had to endure the make up process for several weeks solid with no break.
I’m looking forward to seeing this Horror take on the Hellboy franchise. In regards to design we tried to stay as close to the comic as possible.
In total there was around 30 people in the workshop who all played a vital role in the work.

Netflix has been really lovely and put forward Scoop for an Emmy submission for outstanding prosthetic make up. I know Kirstin, Robin and I would be truly grateful if the powers that be could consider us to be worthy of a nomination. We had such a wonderful time on this job and I am very proud of the work we all did.
Thanks for reading. X , , ,

In the movie Scoop we couldn’t really have the big interview without the infamous Epstein and Prince Andrew photo itself being captured in the first place. Here are images of the first day of Colin wells in his Jeffrey Epstein make up. Was a total of 10 pieces, these included, eye bags, crows feet, forehead, nose, top lip and chin which were sculpted by Nate Sanger Davies. Applied my myself and assisted by Kirstin and her team. Wig and hair work was styled and applied by Kirstin and Her team. Even though Colin/Epstein was always meant to be shot from a distance Make up Designer Kirstin wanted to get a close match as possible without it being a complete look alike make up, rather a hybrid of both actor and character. It was a fun few days with Colin who was Brilliant.

Following the last couple of posts are pics of the sculpt and pieces for those who like to see process pics. I sculpted this in around a week before going into breaking up the sculpt into sections. I do a basic texture pass then all my main final detailing happens when the sculpt is separated in the individual pieces. Pieces were moulded by and , silicone pieces were run by , , and . Pieces were 25% pre painted by Jack Coakley. Most of the paint job was done in the make up chair by myself, .pritchard_fx and with skin illustrators, hairwork work was all done by and her team.

Scoop of finally out on Netflix. I had a lot of fun on this project. I designed the prosthetics with Kirstin Chalmers. Here are some stills showing Rufus in the 8 piece prosthetic make up. Pieces included neck, forehead, cheeks, nose, and eyebags. Application was done with Robin Pritchard most days and on Occasions Aurora Beadle when Robin was double booked. I think we did around 23 Days in make up including the test stages. Rufus is an absolute dream to work with. If anyone ever gets the opportunity to work with him… Take it! Same goes for Kirstin Chalmers who is a wonderful energy to be around. Talented designer to boot.

Me and my wonderful wife Nicola managed to leave the children at home for a date night at the movie ‘Scoop’ premiere last night. The film was fantastic, the pace, the visuals, and the story of how the interview all came about. Kudos to Director Philip Martin who I think absolutely nailed it.
The cast were all perfect in bringing Sam McAllister’s story to life on the big screen. Out on Netflix on April 5th.
Making Rufus Sewell to look like Prince Andrew was of course a huge challenge, made a thousand times easier by how incredible Rufus was from the test day to the multiple day to days.
Massive thanks to Make up designer Kirstin Chalmers for bringing me onboard for this one I can honestly say I’m proud of what we did.
Massive thanks to my team. I hope you enjoy the movie.
