Alien make up for movie Supergirl.
This make up was on a few times and this version was the second version as the first incarnation was on a larger cast member and didn’t give the look the director was after. The make up was all silicone. 3d printed mandibles.
This version was sculpted by Francesco Fabiani and 3d digital elements sculpted by Peter Cooper prepainted by Alice Willard and Keith Wilson application for this I believe was Sophie Medhurst and Sam Shuck (correct me if I’m wrong, I know it did have multiple applications)

Always lots of fun times working with . This was made for his appearance for the chrimbo special of 8 out of 10 cats do countdown a few years back. I remember it being a fast turnaround as always but Joe was such a laugh made it all seem easy. We have done quite a few moments with joe over the years. I’ll dig out some of the other builds and share at some point. This was a three piece build. Foam legs and torso costume with a prosthetic neck blender. Sculpted by myself and in a few hours. Moulded by Chris Kearey who was also good enough to model the suit to help the fabricators as pictured! Fabrication by and painted by . Hair work by Karen O'Sullivan. I dealt with the onset fun with Donald McInnes. Such a fun job. Thoroughly recommend working with Joe if you ever get the chance!

Today’s post is make we did for the 2020 movie Dolittle for Make up designer Daniel Phillips (Daniel Phillips). This make up was on the very patient Harry Collett. This was a reaction to a bee sting moment but I’m certain it didn’t make the Final Cut? I sculpted this make up and applied it with . A fun little job. Thank Daniel for the work as always.

This massive severed creature head prop was for Secret invasion. Blink and you’ll miss it. I remember this being a crazy fast turnaround, just throwing people at it to get it done in time. Sculpt led by Peter Cooper and assisted by Nate Sanger-Davies , Sam Shuck , .sfx , many others. Moulded by Chris Kearey, mark jefferies and assisted by others Painted by Simone Macdonald , and Keith Wilson. I can’t remember everyone who was involved. This Fake dead cape buffalo was one of several we made for the Movie Kraven. Shot in Salisbury on military ground and made to appear to be the plains of Africa . These props were massive. Built to be a realistic one to one scale. I think everyone at KM effects had their hands on these beasts at some point through the build process. Started from a digital mould with some traditional sculpting involved, skinned with foam over a lightweight fibreglass core. Horns made with resin backed with rigid foam.

This Fake orangutang autopsy prop was for the sandman season 2. Such a small detail in the scene but the producers are anted to showcase something quite graphic and sad. Quite a new people involved in this and I’m sure I’ll miss a few. Sculpt was done by Peter Cooper moulded by Chris Kearey and team, cast out by Aurora Beadle and team, painted by hairwork by Hannah Scott and team.

Fake Body done for Netflix’s Black Mirror Bete Noir episode in season Seven. Was a replica body of the Character Verity played by the uber talented Rosy McEwen. We have been involved with many of outsides of Black mirror over the years and it’s always fun to create cool make ups and props. This episode is a great episode to watch. If you haven’t seen it, give it a go. Doesn’t disappoint.
I can’t remember who did what on this all the way through the build. So KM effects crew feel free to mention what you did.

Here is another Alien from Supergirl Movie, foam head and cowl piece, silicone neck and mouth area. Belly back and Hands all sculpted flat and cast in silicone. Applied by Stuart Bray Jon 'Ginge' Moore and I’m sure a few other as was on multiple days with reshoots too. We worked very closely with Peter King who was the make up and hair designer. I would have loved this character to have a full body suit to push the alien anatomy but not only no time or budget but ultimately Director wanted it to be quite human. Would love to revisit this character with some additional features. The original design can from the awesome Legacy Effects who we were working alongside on this project, due to workload and logistics they weren’t able to do everything so we managed some of the load.

This full Silicone make up is from the movie Hellboy the crooked man. This make up was the crooked man, worn by . This make up consisted of a silicone cowl, chin, full face piece, ears and back of hands prosthetics with a padded body suit to alter his posture. Paint job was pre painted by . Hair work by Hannah Scott. Sculpted by Francesco Fabiani moulded by Chris Kearey and team, pieces were run by the silicone team Marina Altomare katbeckmua Aurora Beadle and others and applied by Sam Shuck. Teeth were made by Chris Lyons - Fangs FX and lenses by Eyeworks For Film. Not the most successful movie in the world but a fun creative roll coaster for all the team.

This make up has been applied numerous times over the last 5 years. This Albert Einstein likeness make up for a commercial campaign for U Switch energy has kept the crew busy. make up consists of silicone nose, forehead, chin, ears, neck and cheeks. Many of the team have taken turns to apply this make up. I really appreciate these smaller projects that keep people employed and busy during the times the film industry goes quiet… which does seem a lot since covid.
