New candles have arrived!

I do love it when a candle delivery comes in, although unpacking them always takes me twice as long as it should because I have to smell every single one. 😂

We’ve got a lovely selection back in the shop now, with lots of different fragrances depending on what you like.
I’m definitely starting to light candles more in the evenings again now too. It’s still warm, but those darker evenings are creeping in, the shop is looking fabulously autumnal.

If you’re starting to get back into candle season too, we’ve got plenty to choose from in the shop at the moment. 🕯️I cannot recommend Blackberry Bush enough!

A little heads up from us… 🐝

The shop will be CLOSED next week because it’s time for one of our biggest making weeks of the year.

We’ll be swapping the shop counter for the making room and getting stuck into our Christmas stock build - bath bombs, wax melts, perfumes, diffusers, bespoke engraved gifts and plenty more ready for the busiest few months of the year.

There is A LOT to make, and closing the shop for the week means we can get a proper head start without having to keep stopping and starting.

The website will still be open as normal, so you can still order online while we’re busy making.

Then when we reopen, we’ll be another big step closer to CHRISTMAS at Sage & Bumble. 🎄

I’m getting ridiculously excited for Christmas.

I love gifting, always have.

There's a specific moment I look for, right when someone opens something and their whole face changes, because they can tell someone thought about them, not just grabbed whatever was nearest.

That's what I try to help people find here. When someone comes in looking for a gift, most of what I'm doing is asking questions about the person they're buying for. The more I know about them, the easier it is to find something that gets that reaction.

So next time you're gifting, spend a minute thinking about the person you're buying for.

A few days later than I’d hoped….but so worth the wait ♥️

Our limited editions for this year to add to your home fragrance collection.

First up, a pumpkin set with a bit of sparkle running through it, a full woodland animal collection with hedgehogs and foxes nestled in among the leaves and finally our mini mixed pots.

This is the first drop of several through the rest of the year. These designs will be back again next year, but this batch is limited, so once it's gone, that's it for this run.

I love the idea of a coaster with someone's family name on it, or an important date, a birth, a wedding, a memory, whatever it is for that person.

We do all the engraving ourselves in the Bumblery, so it's made specifically for whoever it's going to, not something picked off a shelf.

Picture this: the water's run, the lights are down, and you tip the salts in and watch them fizz, foam and dissolve.

Within a few minutes the whole room is beautifully scented, and by the time you're in, your shoulders have already started to drop.

Mine are made with Himalayan and Epsom salts, so it's not just the scent doing the work, your muscles feel it too. An hour later you get out and you're a different person to the one who got in.

Every batch starts with a bowl in front of me, weighing out the salts and mixing the fragrance in by hand, exactly the same way every time. We tried a cake mixer once, thinking it would speed things up, and hated it so much it's still sat gathering dust in the corner of The Bumblery.

The car diffusers got even better.

You can now refill them yourself. Once the bottle runs low, you unscrew it, pour the same fragrance straight back in, and you're back to full strength in seconds.

No need to buy a whole new one every time it runs out, and a lot less waste along the way too.

I'm really pleased with this one, it's such a small change but it makes such a difference.

One of my favourite things about this job is getting to know someone's sense of smell.

It sounds a bit odd when I say it like that, but when you know someone and you know their taste in fragrance is quite specific, there's a real satisfaction in finding the one that they love.

A lady came in last week looking for room spray. She had a very specific job she needed it to do and a very clear idea of what she didn't want. She didn't have a huge range of scents she'd go for, so it wasn't a case of picking from many options. I asked a few questions, listened, and pointed her in a direction I felt confident about. I don't get it wrong too often. I make the range, I know every scent in it, and it doesn't take much for me to get a feel for what someone is drawn to.

We got a message yesterday to say it was perfect. Exactly what she was looking for.
Those messages truly make my day.
We have some new scents in the room spray range, one of which is Amber Blaze, and it's a beautiful one. Rich, warm, a little bit different. Come in for a try, tell me what you like and what you don't, and we'll find your one.

I’ve started reaching for my lip balm more over the last week or so.

I tend to have one by the desk, one in the car and another in my bag, and they’re all starting to get a bit more use again.

We might still be getting 20-degree days, but there’s a definite change in the air, especially first thing in the morning and later in the day.

If your lips are prone to getting dry or chapped as we head into autumn, start looking after them now rather than waiting until they’re sore.

A good lip balm used regularly can make all the difference, and we’ve got some lovely ones in the shop, and the Enniskinn brand is also suitable for Vegans.

When I started Sage & Bumble seven years ago, I don't think I ever imagined someone would one day tell me that things from my little shop had become part of their everyday life and their family.

I had a lovely review recently from a customer who buys gifts here for her mum, sister and daughter. She has one of our reed diffusers in her bedroom and said the fragrance makes her happy every time she walks into the room. Then she mentioned our little shaped bath oils and how they take her and her sister straight back down memory lane.
Reading that filled me with so much joy.

You don't always get to know what happens to things once they leave the shop. You don't know where the gift is going, who opens it, where something ends up in somebody's home or what memories something might bring back.
Seven years ago, I certainly never imagined all of that.
And then she finished with, “If I could buy everything in it, I would!”
