Today, I met a 98-year-old lady who broke my heart. 💔

She had lived alone in her little bungalow after losing her husband, dedicating the rest of her life to caring for her only son, a vulnerable man who depended completely on her.

No one seemed to notice how much she was carrying… until she fell. She ended up in hospital, social services became involved, and eventually she was moved into a care home.

Today, while caring for her feet, she told me her story. She is deaf, so I had to speak slowly and clearly. She is also a Christian, and such a sweet, gentle soul.

Then she said something I will never forget:

“I’m happy here because I don’t have to worry about cooking anymore. I was so tired.”😭😭😭😭

And when I asked about her son, she told me he is going to another care home.💔

She looked at me and said:

“I wish my son could be here with me.”😞

At 98, after a lifetime of caring for someone she loves, they may now spend the final chapter of their lives apart.

I don’t have all the answers. But I know this: we cannot change the whole world, but we can change someone’s world.

One kind word. One gentle touch. One moment of dignity. One person who stops and truly listens.

That is why I do what I do. ❤️
