One of the biggest misconceptions is that old brows can simply be covered with a new set of hairstrokes.

Unfortunately, it’s not always that simple because the old pigment, outdated techniques, incorrect shape, and colour changes can make this extremely difficult and impossible to achieve natural looking results.

Think of your skin like a cup.

When old pigment is already sitting in the skin, the cup is already partly full. The only thing I can do is add more pigment on top… If I keep adding pigment to an already full cup, eventually it becomes oversaturated. The strokes will blur and merge into the old pigment, losing their definition, and creating a blocky appearance. Even worse, the result often won’t age well, leaving you back at square one.

The PMU industry has evolved so much over the last few years, pigment quality and techniques have became softer and more focused on natural results. Removing your old pigment will just give you an opportunity to achieve the best possible results using today’s techniques, pigments and knowledge.

Since qualifying in 2019, I’ve trained with some of the UK’s leading brow artists and spent years refining my natural hairstroke technique because creating brows that look realistic is far more difficult than creating brows that simply look “done”.

After qualifying in laser pmu brow removal, I’ve also seen what can happen when the wrong pigment is used, too much pigment is implanted, incorrect technique or brow shape that aren’t designed specifically for the client’s face and natural brows.
