Your skin doesn’t need its protective layer removed to get results.

The outermost layer is often described as “dead skin” as though it’s useless and needs to be exfoliated away.

But we need this layer.

It protects the skin, holds in moisture and communicates with the living layers beneath it.

Corneotherapy focuses on keeping this protective layer intact and giving it what it needs to function properly. This sends healthier signals to the deeper layers, helping the next cycle of skin cells develop in a calmer, more organised environment.

So we don’t always need to scrape, scrub or peel to reach the deepest layers to create change.

By improving the surface, we can influence the skin that’s coming next.

Protect this skin cycle to improve the next one.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned from treating skin is that sometimes the best thing you can do for your skin is… stop trying to treat it.

When clients come to me for a consultation, I don’t automatically put them straight into a treatment plan.

Quite often, I’ll ask them to spend 12 weeks focusing on their homecare and making changes to the things that could be contributing to their skin concerns.

And this is where I started seeing some of the most incredible results.

Skin becoming calmer. More resilient. Less reactive. Less breakouts

And results that actually lasted.

It made me realise that a treatment can absolutely have a place in improving the skin, but it shouldn’t always be the starting point.

Your skin is affected by what you do to it every single day, as well as things like lifestyle, environment, stress, habits and the products you’re using.

That’s why my consultations take a 360° approach.

I want to understand what’s happening with YOUR skin, rather than simply throwing another product or treatment at it.

An online consultation includes:

• A detailed consultation and skin history form
• A review of your current skincare and products
• Looking at lifestyle and environmental factors
• Identifying what could be contributing to your concerns
• Personalised product and routine recommendations
• Clear guidance on what to stop, change or introduce
• A plan for professional treatments, if and when your skin is ready
• Support while you work through your plan

And yes, sometimes my recommendation is - no facial at all.

Because I’d rather help you spend your money on what your skin actually needs than sell you something it doesn’t.

If you’ve been buying products, trying treatments and still feel like you don’t understand your skin, an online consultation might be exactly what you need.

DM me SKIN and I’ll send you the details.

One of the biggest myths in skincare is that more is always better.

Double cleansing has its place, but it shouldn't be an automatic habit just because someone on the internet said so.

I see so many people with reactive skin who are doing all the "right" things, yet their skin keeps getting worse.

Sometimes it's not about adding another product, it's about doing less.

What's one skincare rule you've always wondered if you actually need to follow?

Pigmentation, like a lot of other skin concerns, requires patience and the right long-term approach ✨

These photos were taken at this client’s 4th Cellstory Liquid Microneedling appointment after 3 treatments over 8 months alongside Dermaviduals bespoke serum. You can already see a noticeable softening in the pigmentation, alongside brighter, healthier looking skin overall.

No aggressive treatment plan or excessive inflammation. Just gradual improvement while supporting the skin barrier at every stage 🤍

Skin treatments should improve the health of the skin, not fight against it.

A little Sunday night check in 🤍

Life has been very full lately, between a family holiday, a beautiful wedding away, 2 inservice days in one week 😂, fence painting and everything else that happens behind the scenes, I’ve spent a little more time offline recently.

Coming back into this week feeling refreshed, and excited for all things skin ✨

Thank you for continuing to support The Skin Retreat, whether that’s through appointments, skincare orders, or online consultations… it honestly means so much 🫶

✨ Consultations ✨

Some of you may have noticed already that you can’t book a consultation on Fresha at the moment. I’ve paused them for now so that the summer holidays don’t mess up review appointments. They will be open to book again from the end of May!

Thanks for your patience and understanding 🤍

Just a little update on Dermaviduals orders 🤍

Any orders that haven’t been placed through my Fresha shop will now need to be completed that way. I’ll be sending payment links out this morning to anyone who’s already messaged or requested products but not ordered through Fresha, so keep an eye on your inbox.

If you’ve placed an order with me recently not through Fresha and haven’t heard from me, please do pop me a message so I can make sure nothing has been missed.

Going forward, all product orders will need to be placed through the Fresha shop. The volume of orders I’m receiving (which I’m so grateful for 🫶🏼) has grown to the point where it’s becoming really difficult to keep track of everything across messages and in person orders.

I do try and keep a stock of popular products but they still need to be ordered through Fresha ☺️.

This will help me keep things organised, make sure your orders are processed quicker, and give you a much smoother experience overall.

Thank you so much for your understanding and support 🤍

At a cellular level, your skin relies on energy to repair, heal, and stay strong.

When that energy declines, your skin doesn’t function the way it used to and that’s when you start to see visible changes.

Dullness.
Loss of firmness.
Sensitivity.
Breakouts that take longer to heal.

Most treatments focus on the surface.

My approach is different.

I focus on supporting how your skin functions using a combination of treatments like microcurrent, LED, microneedling and radiofrequency, alongside barrier-focused care.

Because when your skin is functioning well,
results will follow.

This is the approach behind every treatment at The Skin Retreat 🤍

If your skin is suddenly more dry, congested, or reactive this is a really common shift as we move into spring.

What you’re seeing now is often the after-effect of winter. Months of cold weather, indoor heating, and slower skin function can leave the barrier depleted. So when temperatures rise and your routine changes, your skin has to readjust and that’s when things start to show up.

It’s not just topical either. This time of year often brings changes in routine, diet, and hydration. Less structure, more sugar, lower intake of essential fats, and inconsistent water intake can all contribute to breakouts, dullness, and inflammation.

WHAT TO FOCUS ON
Spring isn’t about doing more it’s about supporting your skin back into balance. Keep your routine simple and consistent. Focus on hydration, barrier repair, and gentle support rather than harsh exfoliation or constantly switching products.

At the same time, support your skin from within. Regular meals, healthy fats, good hydration, and quality sleep all play a role in how your skin behaves.

If your skin feels oily and dry, breaking out and/or sensitive it’s usually a sign your barrier needs support, not stripping 🤍

17/03/2026

Why your skincare still isn’t working (even though you’re using ‘good’ products).

You’re using good products, you bought all the kits, your double cleaning morning and night followed by the 2% acid toner to 'dry out' those breakouts…so why does your skin still feel reactive, dry, or stuck in a cycle?

This is something I see all the time in clinic.
It’s not that your skincare is “bad” it’s just that it’s too much everyday and most skins can’t tolerate being stripped that much and all skins will eventually have some sort of issue if that’s your routine.

Most routines are built around trends, actives, or what’s popular not what your skin barrier actually needs.

So you end up with:
– too many actives
– hidden irritants
– ingredients that don’t work together
– and a barrier that never gets the chance to properly heal.

And when your barrier isn’t functioning properly, nothing else is going to work the way it should.

This is why I always come back to the 3 R’s. Repair, Restore then Rejuvenate.

It’s simple but it’s built around how the skin actually functions which = results.

If your skin feels like it’s constantly reacting,
it’s not random there’s always a reason.

✨ My consultations are designed to figure that out for you properly
